Worst morals in the world; do men and womens, drugs, alcohol and skimpy dress encouraging this |
Single men and women in Britain may have the loosest sexual morals in
the world, according to a survey out today
Nearly six in 10 Brits surveyed said it was normal for a person in
their 30s to have had 10 or more lovers during their single years.
Only Germany and the United States recorded similar results with 52%
and 49% respectively, in the study by Euro RSCG Worldwide.
In comparison, just 17% of Chinese and 30% of French consider it normal
to have had a number of lovers in the double digits.
Fewer than half of the 2,127 Britons surveyed believed that staying
faithful to one partner was "natural". Only 42% said monogamy was "the
natural state for human beings".
Only the Germans were less likely to agree, with 40% believing that
humans are inclined to stick with a single partner for life.
Again, the Chinese were most moral, with 70% believing in monogamy.
This compared to 57% of Americans and 44% of French.
The survey, released in New York, found that British women may be more
tolerant of extra-marital affairs than others around the world.
More than one in 10 - 11% - of both men and women in Britain said they
were tolerant of affairs which "cause pain to neither party".
In the other countries studied, men were more tolerant of such affairs
than women: 13% of men versus 4% of women in the US; 27% to 14% in
China; 28% versus 16% in Germany and 20% of men to 17% of women in
France.
Women may not be surprised to learn that men are more likely to expect
regular sex from their partners.
Some 63% of British men believe they have the right to regular sex,
compared to 47% of women.
In the US the comparison is 76% men to 62% women while in France the
gap is narrower, 85% to 76%.
The gap is much narrower in China and Germany with 82% to 81% and 79%
to 77% respectively.
Only 16% of Britons reported that their religious beliefs influenced
their sexual behaviour, compared with a substantial 39% of Americans
but only 3% of French.

China and Russia in their full blown Communist days were notably
officially rather hard on sexual 'immorality'. The Southern Baptists
would have loved to impose laws like these governments imposed

Indeed so! My references to 'institutionalised atheism' in that post were
actually, umm, a *joke* - on the foundation that 'believers' hereabouts
continually blame China's 'atheistic' culture for whatever 'bad' things they
see happening there... Feel free not to find it funny!

10 lovers in 15 years as a single person.
That does not sound outrageous to me.
But then this is a subject where everyone lies.

Yes, indeed. Fear of seeming embarrassingly over-active struggles with fear
of seeming embarrassingly under-active to produce a 'compromise' answer
which is less likely to be *true* than it is to conform to what the
interviewee thinks is 'uncriticisable' within their society and in the
narrower context of the interview situation -- about which it is probably
relatively revealing. 70% of Chinese say they 'believe in monogamy'? Then
their oppressive, centralised, anti-individualistic, human-rights-abusing
state presumably wants them to say and think *precisely that*...

They may believe in monogamy, but that doesn't necessarily translate
into a belief in fidelity. Latins "blieve" in monogamy, but Latin
American is repleat with bordellos, as is China.

It would be a lot of help if there had been a second line of
questioning asking the same people, if they and/or there parents had
had more than one sex partner.
As it is it may be that the British are just more aware of the fact,
that most people have more than one sex-partner in there life. I
believe that to be a fact for most of the "western" world. I wonder
wether the chinese are actually doing "better".
Mind you, I promised my wife never ever to cheat on her,
but even if I keep my promise, most men seem to go astray, if the have
the chance.
Maybe the density of the Chinese population, makes it impossible to
have sex, without all the neighbours knowing it.
Is there any result for India?

Yeah, for different reasons. French men are great. You do anything to
keep them. Chinese men aren't but you can't get rid of them.
The survey, released in New York, found that British women may be more
tolerant of extra-marital affairs than others around the world.
My father is still married, so yeah.
Women may not be surprised to learn that men are more likely to expect
regular sex from their partners.
Like they needed to do a survey on that. Pbbbt! Guys are all like, "My
***** is hard again, bend over!" The French know better.
Only 16% of Britons reported that their religious beliefs influenced

Yeah, Americans are so repressed. Fucking isn't immoral. Immoral is
like rape, and abusing children, and cheating on your lover. Kendra
says that religion tries to make it impossible for you to be good all
the time. That way they have power over you. So they'll say that normal
is immoral. I believe that.

Incidentally.... What percentage of people actually tell the truth in a

several deliberate lies and in other answers gave an opinion where I
really didn't have one.
