It's amazing isn't it? John F. Kerry's voting record on expansion of the
military places him solidly in the Ronald Reagan camp of the Republican
Party. How he managed to get elected in Massachusetts time after time while
really being such a Reagan conservative is mind boggling ;-)

Only if you subscribe to the fantasy that the Republicans
somehow own the military.
But how do you explain Bush?
Back in 2000, both Bush & Gore released their budgets
for FY 2001. Gore called for fully twice the increase in
military spending that Bush asked for.
It seems like there isn't a "Ronald Reagan camp," but a
"Everyone but Bush" camp.

Right.
I guess you are too young to remember Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, and Tip
O'Neill doing battle. Back then, the Democrats were not too fond of Reagan,
"the right wing warmonger," and his idea to, as O'Neill put it, "push
through the greatest increase in defense spending in American history."
Democrats blamed this military spending as the cause of pretty much
everything wrong with anything for years afterward. You can still find
echoes of these sentiments if you look far enough away from the current
campaign.
FWIW, it's ironic to me that we are now seeing lists of the very same
programs in a Democratic campaign.

Cool! You cut out the parts where I reminded you that Jimmy Carter et al
were positioning Reagan as a "right wing warmonger" and you cut out the
quote of Tip O'Neill saying Reagan wanted to "push through the greatest
increase in defense spending in American history." You then assert that
the issue wasn't really defense spending even though that was *exactly* what
Tip O'Neill and Jimmy Carter were talking about, and what a good portion of
the famous O'Neill / Reagan battles were all about. You seem to think that
by cutting the quote out of my post, you can change history. Sorry, it
doesn't work that way.
But I know what the issue really is, here: It simply *cannot be* that the
Democrats have changed their position over the past twenty-five years ;-)
Maybe you didn't know, but this nation has yet to pay
off a single dimes worth of Reagan's $5 trillion debt.
Which has nothing to do with anything I said.

According to the MLA, you are incorrect. A citation is "clearly documented

actually is.
But now, back to your "point." You seem to be seriously claiming that
Ronald Reagan was not attacked by Carter as a warmonger in the presence of
statements to the contrary from autorities as diverse as PBS
(http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/presidents/40_reagan/printable.html), MSNBC
(http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5158120/site/newsweek/) Time
Magazine(http://www.time.com/time/election2004/columnist/frank/article/0,184
71,650116,00.html) and his son, Ron (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5537960/),
plus the additional citations I provided listing academic sources and
historical writing, and the four or five thousand more which you can easily
find yourself.
You are claiming that Ronald Reagan was not really painted as a war monger
by Carter despite the presence of stacks of supporting evidence; because
those stacks of evidence, from diverse authoritative sources such as PBS,
Time, MSNBC, and academe simply state over and over again that Ronald Reagan
was painted as a war monger by Carter and the Democratic opposition?
And you are calling me a moron?
[---various "Tip O'Neill" stories deleted---]
Are you brain damaged? Tip O'Neill? What relevance are you
imagining?
Jeeze!
The relevence "I am imagining" is that the various "Tip O'Neill stories," as
you call them, address a comment, which *you* made: "Here in reality, it
wasn't that it was 'Defense spending,' it was that there were huge increases
in spending, even as there were huge decreases in revenue." I provided you
evidence that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Thomas P. 'Tip'
O'Neill was, in fact, opposed to Reagan's huge increases in defense
spending, and not just increases in spending, much of which he relished.
As I reread your last post, however, you seem to have changed your focus to
Jimmy Carter and really did not ask for supporting documentation on O'Neill
even though I was speaking of both O'Neill and Carter. My humblest and most
profuse apologies for providing you information on both people instead of
just doing precisely what *you* wanted. ;-)

exact same claim from somebody else.
According to the MLA, you are incorrect.
So what? You made a specific claim. You claimed that Carter called
Reagan a "warmonger."
Show us something from Carter or the Carter campaign making any

911 KIN RUSH TO BUSH'S DEFENSE!!! LIBERALS HATE
AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By HEIDI SINGER
- AP
March 7, 2004 -- President Bush yesterday defended his use of Sept. 11
footage to get himself re-elected, and more than a dozen victims'
families threw their support behind him.
The president caused a firestorm of protest from victims' families on
Thursday when his campaign began running commercials using images of
the destroyed World Trade Center.
"I will continue to speak about the effects of 9/11 on our country and
my presidency," Bush said from his Crawford, Texas, ranch. "I have an
obligation to those who died. I have an obligation to those who were
heroic in their attempts to rescue [the victims]. And I won't forget
that obligation."
Meanwhile, the group of supporters, mostly firefighter families,
released an "Open Letter to America" approving the ads.
"There is no better testament to the leadership of President Bush than
Sept. 11," the letter states. "In choosing our next leader, we must
not forget that day if we are to have a meaningful conversation.
"The images in President Bush's campaign television ads are respectful
of the memories of Sept. 11."
Jimmy Boyle, former president of the Uniformed Firefighters
Association, spearheaded the letter, signed by 22 people who lost
loved ones in the trade center attacks.
Boyle, who said he will be voting for a Republican president for the
first time in November, said he decided to ask other families to sign
the letter after hearing that the president was being criticized for
using Sept. 11 images in campaign ads.
"I don't think he's taking advantage of Sept. 11, and I feel that he's
given us the leadership that we need," Boyle said.
The images include the U.S. flag flying in front of the ruins. Another
shows firefighters removing the flag-draped remains of a victim.
"Families are enraged," said Bill Doyle, 57, whose son, Joseph, died
in the attacks. "What I think is distasteful is that the president is
trying to use 9/11 as a springboard for his re-election. It's entirely
wrong. He's had 3,500 deaths on his watch, including Iraq."
Several family members said their annoyance stemmed in part from
Bush's refusal to testify publicly before the federal commission
investigating the Sept. 11 attacks.
"The Bush administration will not cooperate fully with the 9/11
commission, and at the same time, they are trying to invoke and own
9/11 and use it for his re-election," said Stephen Push, whose wife
died on the plane that crashed into the Pentagon.
Also yesterday, Bush continued talks with Mexican President Vicente
Fox, who was at the ranch to discuss immigration and other issues.

So what?
So what? Your assertion that a cite can only be something from Carter or
the Carter campaign is patently false, yet you continue to operate as if
it's true.
You made a specific claim. You claimed that Carter called
Reagan a "warmonger."
You're hallucinating.
Here's what I wrote, since you have obviously forgotten it, ignored it or
have just made something up to replace it: "I guess you are too young to
remember Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, and Tip O'Neill doing battle. Back
then, the Democrats were not too fond of Reagan, "the right wing warmonger"
And in another post I wrote: "I reminded you that Jimmy Carter et al were
positioning Reagan as a "right wing warmonger"
Show us something from Carter or the Carter campaign making any
such charge, instead of imaginary "sites" that merely repeat the
claim.
I provided citations from a variety of authoritative sources to back my
statements up. I'm sorry you can't or won't accept that Jimmy Carter did
what he did. That's a common problem, though.

You should print this up and hand out fliers and leaflets and
pamphlets and make up some badges, buttons, and
bumper stickers to get this message of yours out to
everyone on the planet as soon as possible,
starting yesterday if you can figure out how to do that.

Liberals ASHAMED to be Liberals!!!!
.... or they're scared to admit it.
Yesterday we found out that the Democrats were going to call their
liberal talk radio network "Central Air." It's amazing ... they have
to begin the dishonesty in the very name they give to their talk radio
network! They don't even have the courage to give it the "liberal"
title that they are all so very proud of.
Here's a better name, just call it "Ignorance in Broadcasting."
Conservative talk show hosts such as Limbaugh, Hannity and Boortz
don't have to go out there and actually buy radio stations, as the
left has done, in order to get our shows aired. The difference
between our stations and the stations that will be owned by these
Democrat Party activists is that our stations air our programs because
their listeners want to listen to us. The Democrat's stations will
air the liberal talk shows because the have to.
Liberals can't compete because nobody wants tune in and hear how much
their country sucks for three hours.

Left-wing liberals are EVERYTHING they accuse the right of being. They
are mean, vicious, hateful, greedy, cold-hearted, closed-minded,
selfish, intolerant, bigoted and racist.

Well he is a character - a rather nasty one.
We're running because he is a leader.
You must have missed it when he ignored the attack on his own country.
Just sat there and ignored it. It was more important to sit around

You sure have a bizarre idea of leadership.

Kerry is just fine - as were almost all the democratic candidates -
all fine upstanding intellegent leaders with great resumes and real
ethics.
Now Dubya - W is Wrong about everything and sending this country the
WRong Way!
Sorry you seem to have some problems with reality. It will clear up
once we get a real leader installed. Someone who will really support
our troops instead of dressing up and pretending to.
