Object: Yet again religious zealots try to impose their morality on everyone
"...A measure to end the sale of alcohol in Athens is up for a citywide vote, a
rare instance where voters could overturn a previous vote to allow sales.
Business interests are against repeal, but church leaders who helped organize
the petition drive that got the measure on the ballot are asking members to pray

I wonder if they ever heard of Prohibition, and how well THAT worked.

I wonder why they think that anyone cares that they dieted in favor of
the ban?

Have you ever read anything about the Muslim religion. If ever you do
you may be surprised at the restrictions and obligations relative to
alcohol and prayer it imposes on its followers. The broader your
knowledge is the less restricted your thinking is.

Yeah, we know the muslim religion. I have similar respect for it's
rules than for christianty's rules (Ie, none). I just find it funny
here, as at least with muslims their delusions tend to be anti-
alcohol, whereas xians delusions involve a character who rather liked
drinking...

So you think some religious people, because of their beliefs, have
less right to express their opinion or seek redress from their
government than atheist do.

So you think some religious people, because of their beliefs, have the right
to impose their religious restrictions upon me?

No, there is no mechanism in place for them to do that, Civics 6th
grade.

So you are saying there is no mechanism for what is going on, as cited in the
article?

Not even close and you know it.

Ben

It's not close, it's smack right on target. And you know it.
A group of religious zealots don't think it's right to drink alcohol and they
are not content to abstain and get others to voluntarily abstain. They are
trying to get a law in place that will deprive everyone of the ability to obtain
it within the town.

And they are well within their rights as American citizens to do so
regardless of what boozers may think.

Ben

Do you deny that they are trying to force their religious view of alcohol on
everyone?

With a chosen pretend name of "Al Key" = "Alchy" = diminuitive of
"Alcoholic", you don't think that this boozed bozo would give an
unbiased and honest answer, do you?
Give Boos a chance.

No. But then again, their right to their faith stops when they try to
push it on to me, violating my rights.
Simple solution, ya don't like booze, don't buy it. No one is holding
a gun to their heads and forcing them to drink. They'd show more of that
'Christian Charity' if they would spent their time toughening up the
drunk driving laws and closing the loopholes that allow so many drunk drivers
off the hook.

Non sequitur, old chap. This has nothing to do with opinions and
seeking redress. This has a lot to do with them trying to force
everyone to live by their rules. They don't like booze? Nobody is
making them drink. The Irony, though, is that xians have booze as a
part of their religious works.

dry counties in the US. The breadth of knowledge of some people on
rarely raised issue is interesting.
