You believe WHAT? |
It is not even reasonable to believe that life on this planet occurred by
some evolutionary process. Therefore, belief in the existence of God is a
rational assumption. Furthermore, is it not reasonable to believe that He
had a purpose for creating intelligent life? If so...is it not also
reasonable that He would reveal His "will" to us? Therefore, it should not
be unexpected that we have a book claiming to be the WORD OF GOD.
Why would any rational person ignore a book that proclaims to be a
revelation of God? Why would any who have knowledge of it - not take its
warnings seriously? Is refusing to believe it going to make any difference -
if it proves to be TRUE? If it proves to be true, are you prepared to face
the CONSEQUENCES? Many more probing questions can be found at

Evolution deals with the origins of species.

You go to your proctologist for an examination. You trust in his
science. What do you think the authors of your bible would think if they
knew you were paying someone to stick a finger up your arse? Do you
think they would believe you if you told them that it was for your own
good?
It is not even reasonable that a god would forget to tell us we need
to do such things to keep his creation(s) healthy. It is also not
reasonable that this god of yours hates us so much that it would make us
figure out what plants and medicines are good/bad for us instead of just
telling us - our ancestors from 5000 years ago were as smart as we are

Life wasn't produced by evolution. The production of life from
non-life is called abiogenesis and that's something different. Once
you *have* life, it is shaped by evolution.
Therefore, belief in the existence of God is a
rational assumption. Furthermore, is it not reasonable to believe that He
had a purpose for creating intelligent life?
Why are you saying "He"? How do you know your presumptive creator is
male? How do you know there was just one and not many? Why would
life have to be created by an intelligent agent? It's just as likely
that there could simply be some wondering life making machine
travelling around the universe mindlessly seeding planets.
If so...is it not also
reasonable that He would reveal His "will" to us? Therefore, it should not
be unexpected that we have a book claiming to be the WORD OF GOD.
In fact, there are lots of books that claim to be the "WORD OF
GOD(s)". How do you know that you've picked the right one?
Why would any rational person ignore a book that proclaims to be a
revelation of God?
Probably because the book itself (if you're talking about the bible)
is irrational and full of contradictions. Why would a rational person
believe an irrational book?
Why would any who have knowledge of it - not take its
warnings seriously? Is refusing to believe it going to make any difference -

They call it a 'He' because at the time this myth was perpetrated men were totally dominant, as can

In a message sent 'round the world, Robert Clark poured fuel on the fire
with the following:
[ snip some trolling ]
If it proves to be true, are you prepared to face
the CONSEQUENCES? Many more probing questions can be found at
http://www.truthorfallacy.com
Snorf!
You consider Doooooooooooookie's Wager to be a probing question?
That would explain the very lame site.

In article <10qurfkpuk5it16@corp.supernews.com> "Robert Clark" <recloser@yahoo.com> writes:
It is not even reasonable to believe that life on this planet occurred by
some evolutionary process. Therefore, belief in the existence of God is a
rational assumption. Furthermore, is it not reasonable to believe that He
had a purpose for creating intelligent life? If so...is it not also
reasonable that He would reveal His "will" to us? Therefore, it should not
be unexpected that we have a book claiming to be the WORD OF GOD.
Quite so. In fact, there are rather a large number of those, aren't there?
Why would any rational person ignore a book that proclaims to be a
revelation of God?
You buy into the Koran, then? How about the Book of Mormon?
Why would any who have knowledge of it - not take its
warnings seriously? Is refusing to believe it going to make any difference -
if it proves to be TRUE?
Good point. What if the Koran is TRUE?
