Once upon a time in alt.atheism, dear sweet (ck19bla@msn.com) made the
light shine upon us with this:
1. squat
2. take three deep breaths
3. stand up
4. stick your thumb in your mouth and blow as hard as you can WITHOUT
letting any air out.
Hahahhahaha!!!
I used to do that in college. But I would get stoned first. The first
time I did it I woke up with my room mate standing over me, trying to chant
me down from some kind of hypnotic trance. I realized I had fallen
backward and my head had landed between the iron frame of my bed, and the
wooden frame of our easy chair. A few degrees different either way and I
would not be writing this post right now. Well, that's life, eh?

Yes indeed. I've had many such lucky moments. Like the one whilst
enjoying California's Highway 25 on my motorcycle, and taking a left
corner just a tad too fast. With a rock cliff a few feet to the right of
me, I rode the white line on the right of the roadway and FORCED myself
to do the impossible, steering right into the cliff face to increase my
lean amgle to the left, which decreased my left turn radius, and saved my
life. Sometimes you have control, if you can manage to convince yourself
of it.

Physics, my good man. It's all physics even though at times it is
counterintuitive. I was in a similar situation in a car navigating a
hairpin turn on a wet road with a semi coming downhill in the inside
lane. I hit the accelerator hard instead of the brake and powered
around the curve. I completed a 180 on the other side of the hairpin,
but I was still on the road and past the truck. Turned the car
around and went on my way with just a little shaking.
