" having been predestined according to His purpose " Eph. 1:11 |
" also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined
according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His
will " Eph. 1:11
**************************************************************
the debate will rage until the Last Day concerning the Bible
doctrine of predestination.
there is no cause for this if you believe that God is Sovereign
( 1 Tim. 6:15 ) His plan or purpose immutable. ( Is. 46:10 ) and your
election to salvation is all of grace apart from good works, ( Eph.
2:5. ) good works include ceremonies and will worship as a means to
salvation.
the word predestination was selected for use to describe the Greek
word ' proorizo ' which is a compound of two words...' pro... in
front of; prior; and ' horizo '... to mark out; as in a boundary;
horizon; and figuratively to appoint, decree, specify '
as the believer reads the Word of God and matures in the knowledge
of the faith once and for all delivered to the saints he eventually
must consider his position on such strong meat of the Word as
predestination. how he defines grace will condition his definition of
predestination.
what his conclusion might be of how predestination works in his own
salvation, he will find that he already adheres to the predestination
of all believers and sinful men as it applies to End Time doctrine.
in End Time Christian belief, the host of mankind in universal terms
is being moved toward the Tribulation, to the Rapture of the Church,
Day of Judgement, and Eternal Rewards for deeds done in the body
whether good or evil.
if the believer and Christian conclude that all events moving the
world ever closer to the Last Day are haphazardly moving along by the
outcome of mans doings and not of God causing it to happen then the
believer and Christian must rightfully answer Eph. 1:11 where it is
stated that " predestination is according to the purpose of God, ".
with further emphasis immediately following that statement... " who
works all things after the counsel of His will. " ( not man's will )
it can not be said from the structure of this verse that
predestination is the result of God looking down the corridors of time
and selecting the events preformed by man and then incorporating these
events into His purpose. that would be post-destination. the Bible
teaches predestination.
foreknowledge, too, flows from the purpose ( or plan ) of God.
" this One ( Christ ) given to you by the before-determined counsel
and foreknowledge of God, you have taken and by lawless hands,
crucifying Him, you put Him to death " Acts 2:23 ( note Granville
Sharp's Rule of Grammar here ). It was not by some outworking of the
plans of evil men that they should unseat Gods Anointed but rather, it
was the outworking of the Divine Plan that Members of the Godhead
determined before they spoke the world into existence that the Christ
should suffer and bring about the Divine Plan of Redemption through
the actions of evil men.
God knows all events beforehand because He predestinated all events.
He knew from His purposed determination that the Pharaoh of His choice
would be the perfect vessel of dishonor by raising Pharaoh to the
glory of Egypt at the right time in history; Pharaohs demise would
resound through time to this day to the glory of God... Ro. 9:17 ...
and to the praise of His elect. Ro. 9:22,23
" the Scripture says to Pharaoh, "For this very purpose I have
raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may
be declared in all the earth." Ro. 9:17
" What if God, wanting to show His wrath and to make His power
known, endured with much long suffering the vessels of wrath prepared
for destruction, and that He might make known the riches of His glory
on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory "
Ro.9:22,23
" prepared for destruction "..." prepared beforehand for glory "...
declares God predestinating all events moving the elect there unto
just as Eph. 1:11 speaks. even the good works of believers are
predestinated by our Sovereign God who's absolute will can not and
will not be changed... Dan. 4:35; Job 9:12; Ps. 115:3; Ps. 135:6;
Is. 40:15,17; Is. 45:9
*******************************************************************
" we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works,
which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." Eph. 2:10
all those who are Gods genuine chosen people have the absolute
assurance that every event in their lives were planned by God and
guaranteed by the Almighty to work to His glory and the good of His
elect...
" And we know that all things work together for good to those who
love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the
image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren."
Ro. 8:28 Ps.37:23
interestingly enough, the Bible word " good ' is a synonym for the
Bible word ' God ' Matt. 19:17
even the wrath of man is determined by God to proclaim the glory of
the Almighty Ps.76:10
since the works of God are finished from the foundation of the world
( Heb. 4:3 ) it is but to happen in history, which is foreknown and
predestined to take place having been determined to take place, and,
all to the glory of God, who is capable of causing all things to work
together for His glory.
predestination, when deceptively defined by any terms which give man
the glory, such as predestination being the result of God waiting on
man to ' accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior ' and then planning
history around that decision of man, is a demonic lie. Acts 13:48
" salvation belongs to the Lord " ( Ps. 3:8 ) He bestows salvation
on those whom He's chosen in eternity past should receive it apart
from righteous deeds so that all the glory for the doing goes to God.
( Eph. 1:3-14.)
elect believers are to look on this with reverence and awe since
those chosen were dead in sin before the Living God breathed life into
their dead spirits calling them out from among the dead,
( Eph. 2:1-10 ) just as Jesus called Lazarus out from among the dead.
' grace ' means ' unmerited favor. ' if you have to do something
righteous to get grace then salvation is by the righteous work of man
who must act righteously before God can grace him. such is
post-destination. the will worshipers gospel puts the emphasis on man
doing something righteous whereas predestination is the strong meat of
the Word which glorifies our Almighty Sovereign God who works all
things after the counsel of His own will. ( not man's will )
" believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved "
Acts 16:31
" and as many as had been appointed to eternal life, believed."
Acts 13:48

One of my clients (I'm a masseuse) is an old hippy...a really nice
sweet guy.
We took some "buttons" and watched the sunset on the beach. Then it
all became clear to me ... the meaning of everything.
But then I forgot.
