Passages about Jesus, Part 5
It is hard for our finite minds to grasp the concept: Even though Jesus is
a member of the Trinity, He is also God's "only begotten Son." Even in His
divine state, Jesus understands family relationships.
John 1:32 And John bare witness, saying, I have beheld the Spirit
descending as a dove out of heaven; and it abode upon him. 33 And I knew
him not: but he that sent me to baptize in water, he said unto me, Upon
whomsoever thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and abiding upon him, the
same is he that baptizeth in the Holy Spirit. 34 And I have seen, and have
borne witness that this is the Son of God. (ASV)
Hebrews 1:1 God, having of old time spoken unto the fathers in the
prophets by divers portions and in divers manners, 2 hath at the end of
these days spoken unto us in his Son, whom he appointed heir of all
things, through whom also he made the worlds; 3 who being the effulgence
of his glory, and the very image of his substance, and upholding all
things by the word of his power, when he had made purification of sins,
sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high. (ASV)
God Provided Salvation for Us through the Scarifice of His Son
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life.

1 John 2:23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he
that confesseth the Son hath the Father also. (ASV)
We are to obey Jesus because He is God's Son
Luke 9:34 And while he said these things, there came a cloud, and
overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud. 35 And
a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my Son, my chosen: hear ye
him. (ASV)
God Glorifies His Son
John 11:1 Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, of the village
of Mary and her sister Martha. 2 And it was that Mary who anointed the
Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother
Lazarus was sick. 3 The sisters therefore sent unto him, saying, Lord,
behold, he whom thou lovest is sick. 4 But when Jesus heard it, he said,
This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of
God may be glorified thereby. (ASV).
John 1:17 These things spake Jesus; and lifting up his eyes to heaven, he
said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that the son may glorify
thee: 2 even as thou gavest him authority over all flesh, that to all whom
thou hast given him, he should give eternal life. (ASV)

Some people's "finite minds" INVENTED that concept, and throughout
ancient history people always believed in gods that had sons
-- and daughters, too. In fact originally YAHU (YHWH) was the son of
another god, named EL, with brothers such as BAAL. The OT itself makes
vestigial references to such "sons of God".
The same human minds have invented leprechauns, Martians, Klingons,
and thousands of other fictional characters. Nothing surprising about that.
