Devotional Guide

BEING WHOLE PERSONS
About being born lost
To Read: Psalm 4-6
To Know:
³The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that
every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.²
(Gen. 6:5)
A daughter-in-law said to her mother-in-law, ³Whenever Iım around Christians
I feel as if I am broken and need to be fixed.² Sometimes feeling the need
to be fixed is our salvation. Some years ago I wrote a lengthy article on a
broken computer program. All went well until it came time to save my work.
When I hit save my article vanished. The piece was never found again. It was
lost.
We are born lost. Every human being enters the world in a broken
relationship with God. This spiritual reality is easily disguised. Good
health, material prosperity and a dose of healthy self-esteem might make us
feel that all is well, when actually we are broken. Christians revel in the
fact that their relationship with God has been repaired. Sin is forgiven.
Guilt is gone. Perhaps the reason that daughter-in-law felt broken in the
presence of someone whose life had been repaired was simply that she was in
fact lost. The will of Christ is that we manifest to the world what it means
to be mended. Those who are still broken are invited to take notice.
To Do:
The world in which we live urges us to pronounce ourselves whole whether we
are or not. That we are born broken is taught in the Word of God. When we
recognize our need to be received back into Godıs favor through repentance
and faith in Jesus Christ, we are heading toward wholeness. Being whole does
not mean being perfect. We do not shed our sin like a snake does its skin.
When the Lord receives us back he fills the God -shaped vacuum in our lives.
We are whole because our maker is in our lives as he was meant to be.
To Ask:
Father, I accept your verdict and ask you to bring me back to yourself in
the person of your Son, Jesus Christ. Make me whole by being his.

What puzzles me is God punished his whole creation, because of a
mistake in Eden.
He then punished the whole of creation because of man's corruption
spreading over the world.
He then confounded their speech, simply because they were all working
together on that big tower job.
Then Jesus comes along to redeem the whole of humanity from the stain
of First Sin.
But according to your comment -
"We are born lost. Every human being enters the world in a broken
relationship with God."
How come this is the case?
