About being light in the Lord
To read the Bible in one year, today Read: 2 Samuel 16-18.
To Know:
³For once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as
children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and
right and true), and try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord.² (Eph.
5:8-10)
My first college class was a lecture on the causes of World War I by Dr.
Arno Kolz. Dr. Kolz virtually illuminated my mind with his insights into the
convergence of events that ignited the great war.¹ He saw things in prewar
Europe that I had never suspected. The most enlightening portion of the
lecture concerned the conflict between the Germans and English in extreme
southern Africa. Kolz persuaded us that it was this African strife that
prepared the world for war.
To Do:
If a person lectured on the love of God would they trace it to our lives? Do
our lives help those seeking the God of love to find him? Are we light in
the Lord?
To Answer:
Do we realize that the gospel is the brightest light of all?
Do we understand that God is presently populating the world to come by
granting faith in the gospel?
Do the beatitudes describe me?
Are we concerned that as a church our light does not go out?
Do our lives light the way for those who need to find the true God?
