About new birth

³Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in
heaven, saying, The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord
and of his Christ, and he shall reign for ever and ever.ı² (Rev. 11:15)
It took only ten seconds on the night of May 2, 2003 to demolish millions of
years of history. Thick clouds hid from sight the massive rockslide that
felled the Old Man of the Mountains. The great stone face carved in primeval
times was heard, not seen, when it tumbled to the base of Cannon Mountain.
Only weeks after the Coalition forces toppled the statue of Saddam Hussein
in Baghdad, a monument millions of years older slid from the southern end of
the New Hampshire mountain. There was something symbolic about the collapse
of the Old Man of the Mountains. The kingdoms of men must fall before the
coming of the kingdom of God.
Our United States of America is an earthly kingdom. We enjoy many freedoms
because we employ in our constitution many of the principles essential to
the reign of Christ. Not least among our guiding principles is the consent
of the governed. Christıs kingdom is administered through the faith of its
citizens. Faith is our access to the revealed will of God. It is this faith
that is the very instrument of our salvation. We who walk by faith in the
name of the Son of God obey him from the heart. Some day Godıs kingdom will
be the only kingdom left standing. The gospel calls sinners to enter that
kingdom while the door is still open.
To Do:
Many, even in the church, are offended by the doctrine of new birth. This is
Christıs teaching that unless a sinner receives a new human nature that
loves Godıs law, he or she remains lost. Someday the kingdoms of men, built
on rebellious human will, will fall from the mountain that they have built.
That day will come as swiftly as did the day the Old Man of the Mountains
came crashing down. The Bible promises that today is the day of salvation.
