Another Example Of Steve Winter Violating His Own Cultic Doctrines |
The following is part of a post by Steve Winter on an Usenet

Please note Steve Winter clearly claims that in order for a person to
receive salvation, the person not only has to be "baptised in Jesus
name" (e.g. - water baptism) but also "would still need to obey the
Bible to be saved." Pretty high standards indeed.
In other words, Steve is claiming that one has to be 100% obedient to
the Bible's teachings or else they are not saved. Pretty high
standards indeed. On numerous occasions, Steve has stated he has been
saved, but by his above-stated standards, is he? Let's examine Steve's
record of scripural obedience:
"And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto
all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those
that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them
repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;" (2 Timothy 2:24,
25, KJV)
Has Steve always been "gentle unto all men"? No.
Is Steve always "in meekness instructing those that oppose
themselves"? No.
"This you know, my beloved bretheren, but let everyone be quick
to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; for the anger of man
does not achieve the righteousness of God." (James 1:19,20, NASV)
Is Steve always "quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger"? No.
"As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men,
especially unto them who are of the household of faith."
(Galatians 6:10, KJV)
Does Steve always "do good unto all men"? No.
"And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one
another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."
(Ephesians 4:32, KJV)

"If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his
tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is
vain." (James 1:26, KJV)
Does Steve always bridle (e.g. - restrain) his tongue? No.
"If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with
all men." (Romans 12:18, KJV)
Does Steve "live peaceably with all men"? No.
"Give none offense, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor
to the church of God:" (1 Corithinans 10:32, KJV)
Does Steve always "give none offense"? No.
I could go on and on showing places where Steve has been very
disobedient to the Bible, but these verses give clear evidence right
away that even Steve Winter is disobedient to the Bible. And by
Steve's own stated standards, this makes his salvation null and void.
Fortunately, Steve's requirements are not God's requirements as found
in scripture.
What _are_ God's requirements as found in scripture in regards to
salvation?
Probably the clearest description of God's requirements is found in
Ephesians 2:8,9 which states:
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith -- and
this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God -- not by works,
so that no man can boast."
According to God's words, it is by God's grace that we have been
saved. And just what do we have to do to received this gift from God?
Do we have to be baptized in water (i.e. - a work) and be completely
obedient to the Bible (i.e. - live a perfect life)? In this passage,
those requirements are not mentioned. The only requirement the sinner
has to do according to Ephesians 2:8,9 is to have saving faith in
Christ.
Does that mean a Christian may choose to sin freely?
What does the Bible say?
Paul, in his epistle to the church in Rome, addresses this very
question. In Romans 3:23 Paul establishes the fact that we all sin and
fall short of the glory of God, therefore he makes it clear that none
of us can live a perfect life. It is simply beyond our limited, human
capability. Fortunately Paul also makes it clear through much of his
epistle to the Roman church that we are under God's grace and it is
through that grace that we recieve salvation when we have saving
faith.
With these facts established, Paul asks "shall we sin, because we are
not under the law, but under grace?" In other words, since the
believer has received salvation via God's grace because of his faith
in Christ, does that allow the believer to choose to sin? Paul answers
that question with "God forbid." In other words, of course not; the
believer is not encouraged to sin, however the believer must realize
that we will still sin from time to time. It is because we have faith
in Christ that our sins are forgiven since He paid the price for us on
the cross.
Which brings me back to the unscriptural point Steve Winter tries to
make. That is, to be saved, one must be completely obedient to the
Bible. The very nature of our humanity makes it impossible to be
completely obedient to the Bible although our saving faith transforms
us into creatures always striving to be obedient to God's words. Man
can exceed his own standards but never, left to himself, can he attain
to God's standard of righteousness. Praise God that we do not have to
rely on our weak and sinful human nature to receive salvation for if
what Steve taught were true then none of us would be saved. But God
loved us so much that He sacrificed His only begotten Son so we could
have eternal life. All we have to do is to have faith in Christ and we
will receive the free gift of salvation through the grace of God. Paul
and Silas said it best in Acts 16:31. When the jailer asked them how
one could be saved, Paul and Silas told him "Believe in the Lord Jesus
Christ and you will saved - you and your household."
It's just that easy. To add to it would be to add falsely. If one
studies the scriptures completely and thoroughly on this subject, uses
the proper method of having scripture explain scripture and allows the
Holy Spirit to enlighten them, then one can come to only one correct
conclusion which is stated in Ephesians 2:8:
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith;"
Our righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all
who believe (Romans 3:22) and we are justified freely by God's grace
through the redemption that came by Jesus Christ (Romans 3:24).
When Steve Winter says, "If you were baptised in Jesus name...you
would still need to obey the Bible to be saved" he is teaching another
gospel for as I demonstrated above, God's words teaches something
completely different. Left to choose, I accept God's words over
Steve's words.

Let me repeat: Steve Winter is mentally ill. Would you go to the
local mental hospital and start bullying and harassing the patients

Your analogy is flawed in a non sequiturial way. Steve Winter is not
locked up and isolated in a mental hospital. Instead he is free to
spread his dangerous doctrine and Christians are called upon by God to
refute such heretical materials such as Steve Winter's false
teachings.

Titus 1:9 instructs Christians to refute unsound doctrine and those
who teach it. That's not bullying. The Apostle Paul taught that true
doctrine is essential for Christian growth <Eph. 4:11-16; 1 Tim. 4:6;
6:3; Titus 1:9> and that false doctrine destroys the church <Eph.
4:14; 2 Tim. 4:3>. Steve Winter's false doctrine is indeed
destructive. I try to remain gentle yet firm in my refutations and
turn to scripture for the sound doctrine that clearly refutes Steve
Winter's unsound doctrine. In 2 Tim 4:3-5 we are warned of people like
Steve Winter and we are also instructed as to what to do in reponse to
false teachings from false teachers like Steve Winter.
"For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine.
Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a
great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.
They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.

In an earlier post, you offered advice saying that I did not have to
read Steve Winter's posts. That is true. However the same thing can be
pointed out to you as well -- you don't have to read my posts nor

What is it with you and all this mental illness hogwash? Mental
illness is not an excuse to sin. Nut cases adjust to the world, the
world does not adjust to nut cases. Or; Crazies adjust to God, God
doesn't adjust to crazies. If Steve Winters is nuts it is because he
choses to be nuts. If he was saved, God gave him power, love, and a
sound mind. Steve tossed the sound mind aside as a license to sin
just as other crazies do. What happens to a crazy who murders
someone? Do you reward him? What happens to a carzy that rapes a
woman or a child? Do you offer him a reward? Do you make excuses
like; "Oh, it's okay rapist you are sick so it is okay for you to rape
and molest women and children."
Take Saul as an example. Saul was a nut case that David ministered to
with music. When the nut case got involved with the woiman with the
familiar spirit, he died. The consequnces of sin apply to people even
when they are nuts.
Steve is a murder because he hates his brothers and sisters in Christ.

You should not be trying to rationalize his sins for him. You say you
are a minister. Therefore you know what reproof and rebuke is about

Aye, but why stop at verse 10? Beginning with the next verse, we read
that God worked miracles through Paul as well to the point that some
considered they could make money casting out spirits. Imitation is the
sincerest form of flattery, is it not? How about those who converted from
the practices of magic and burned their books, valued to be 50,000 pieces of
silver? That's a lot of money. How about the story of the silversmith
Demetrius who was upset because of his business losses became the
inspiration for a large protest? Oh, the reading gets much better, doesn't
it?

St. Paul wrote this epistle because, after his departure from the
Galatian churches, Jewish-Christian fanatics moved in, who perverted Paul's

world in turn charges the Gospel with being a subversive and licentious

These Jewish-Christian fanatics who pushed themselves into the Galatian
churches after Paul's departure, boasted that they were the descendants of
Abraham, true ministers of Christ, having been trained by the apostles
themselves, that they were able to perform miracles.
In every way they sought to undermine the authority of St. Paul. They
said to the Galatians: "You have no right to think highly of Paul. He was
the last to turn to Christ. But we have seen Christ. We heard Him preach.
Paul came later and is beneath us. It is possible for us to be in error--we
who have received the Holy Ghost? Paul stands alone. He has not seen Christ,
nor has he had much contact with the other apostles. Indeed, he persecuted
the Church of Christ for a long time."
When men claiming such credentials come along, they deceive not only the
naive, but also those who seemingly are well-established in the faith. This
same argument is used by the papacy. "Do you suppose that God for the sake
of a few Lutheran heretics would disown His entire Church? Or do you suppose
that God would have left His Church floundering in error all these
centuries?" The Galatians were taken in by such arguments with the result
that Paul's authority and doctrine were drawn in question. - Martin Luther,

More than anything, I believe this scenario to be the source of your
anger. Instead of being made welcome, you have been rebuffed. The $64
question is, "What is your calling and credentials to the ministry?"

harassed you in the past. If you do not feel vengeful toward Steve,
then why did you bring up how he has wronged you? If it was in the
past - forgiven and forgotten - why bring it up at all?
You might want to really ask yourself what your motivation here truly
is (just a suggestion).
Your analogy is flawed in a non sequiturial way. Steve Winter is not
locked up and isolated in a mental hospital.
So because he isn't in a mental hospital that makes him less worthy of
humane and loving treatment? Would you stop harassing him if he were
locked away?

family. If you're really so concerned about him, why not get ahold of
the Dept of Social and Health Services (or whatever the equivalent of

I would think that Scripture likely applies to those who are teaching
unsound doctrine with intent and malice. Steve Winter doesn't have
the mental capacity to teach anything *but* unsound doctrine nor does
he have the mental capacity to be reasoned with. He's not possessed,
and he's not making choices with a sound mind. You're bullying a
mentally ill man and trying to get him to see things your way.
Again, I have to ask "why?"
In 2 Tim 4:3-5 we are warned of people like
Steve Winter and we are also instructed as to what to do in reponse to
false teachings from false teachers like Steve Winter.
"For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine.
Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a
great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.
They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.
With mental illness (like Steve appears to have), it's not his desires
that are getting in the way - it's his unsound mind. That Scripture
doesn't apply to people with mental incapacity.
In an earlier post, you offered advice saying that I did not have to
read Steve Winter's posts. That is true. However the same thing can be
pointed out to you as well -- you don't have to read my posts nor
anyone else's if you choose not to.

For the record, you filed incident reports whose significance implies
you suspected someone of illegal conduct and desire policing authorities to
formally investigate. It is they who decide if any laws have been
contravened. America has laws which state that in order for the State to
prove criminal conduct, they must do so beyond a reasonable doubt and in a
fair manner. In other words, fairly obtained and undeniable proof. Do your
little tidbits don't meet that requirement? When fishing in a pool of
piranhas, a good fisherman never blames the fish if he gets bit.
Instead, how about providing a full meal deal? That would mean you have
done nothing to provoke retaliation; you legitimately are an innocent lamb
being led to the slaughter. That would mean you can't respond in kind,
either. You must be on your best behaviour at all times.
