Sorry folks, the earlier post, sent in error, was an uncorrected draft.
Here is my full post.
Greetings,
I am considering purchasing one or both of the following books, but need
a question or two answered before buying them. Perhaps some of the
learned members may know of these classic texts. I have not sighted
either set myself.
Charles, R.H. The Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha of the OT. 2 Vols.
First published 1913.
Charlesworth, J.H. The Old Testament Pseudepigrapha. 2 Vols. First
published 1983.
My interest is in the esoteric aspect of the Apocrypha and
Pseudepigrapha. In this light:
1. Which is the better text for study? Is Charlesworth more easily
understood by the modern reader, or does Charles offer a more classical
approach to the text?
2. Does either of the volumes contain The Book of Enoch II and The Book
of Enoch III? (Book I is readily available elsewhere).
I am quite prepared to purchase both volumes for study, but wonder
whether it might be necessary.
Thank you very much for any offerings in this matter.
