Asteroid 2003 QQ47 May Hit Earth

Sept. 2, 2003 British astronomers monitoring near-Earth objects said
Tuesday there was a slim chance that a newly-discovered asteroid could
hit Earth in March 2014.
The large rock known as 2003 QQ47 has a mass of around 2.6 billion tons,
and is around two-thirds of a mile wide. The possible collision on March
21, 2014, has been classified as "an event meriting careful monitoring"
on the Torino scale, which rates the chances of newly discovered
asteroids and comets hitting the Earth.
The asteroid is around one-tenth of the size of the meteor that is
believed to have wiped out dinosaurs on Earth 65 million years ago. In
the unlikely event of 2003 QQ47 hitting Earth, the rock would have the
force of 350,000 megatons around eight million times more powerful than
the atomic bomb dropped over Hiroshima, Japan in 1945.
On impact it would be traveling at 75,000 miles per hour. But
astronomers say the probability of such a collision was just one in
909,000, and while they could make an educated guess as to the day of
impact, they could not reckon exactly where it would be. "As additional
observations are made over the coming months, and the uncertainties
decrease, asteroid 2003 QQ47 is likely to drop down the Torino scale,"
said Kevin Yates, project manager of the near-Earth object information
center in Leicestershire, central England. The center was set up by the
British government to keep track and provide reliable information on
near-Earth objects, also known as NEOs.
Asteroids such as 2003 QQ47 are chunks of rock left over from the
formation of the solar system 4.5 billion years ago. Most are kept at a
safe distance from Earth in the asteroid belt between the orbits of Mars
and Jupiter. But the gravitational influence of giant planets such as
Jupiter can nudge asteroids out of these safe orbits and send them
plunging into the Earth's neighborhood.

NO SINGLE ASTEROID
Bible prophecy indicates that the sensationalized fears of a single
large impact may not be accurate. According to the description in the
apocalyptic writings of John, there will be many impacts, like "hail out
of heaven," rather than one impact. This description by John seems to
indicate thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of stones about a
hundred pounds each striking the entire earth. That would require the
"meteriorite storm" to last 18 to 24 hours. Revelation 16:21 "And there
fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight
of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail;
for the plague thereof was exceeding great."
The end of modern civilization, or the end of this world, will not be a
"natural catastrophy," althogh natural events will be involved. What
will bring the end of the world is the word of God. "The heavens and
earth shall pass away, but my word will not pass away." Luke 21:33, 2
Peter 3:10.

Hello,
I am not sure if you are inferring that the earth itself will be
completely destroyed by such things or not. Many do believe that. And
in case you are, just to refresh you, the Bible says that the earth
will be here forever with people living upon it, because God didn't
make the earth for nothing. Notice these two Scriptures: Isa 45:18,
"For this is what the LORD says-- he who created the heavens, he is
God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not
create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited--..." (NIV)
Ps 37:29,
"The upright will have the earth for their heritage, and will go on
living there for ever." (The Bible in Basic English)
Yes, it is wicked humans that will be destroyed (the "earth") when
God's day of Judgment arrives.
Sincerely, James

No, it turns out that astronomers were wrong, Asteroid 2003 QQ47 was a
false alarm... you can go back to sleep.
On the other hand, IF you are interesting in knowing when Our Loving God
will End All _PHYSICAL_ Life, and KILL those who reject Him and ridicule
those who Love Him, then see:

Sept. 2, 2003 British astronomers monitoring near-Earth objects said

or try:

The Governments of the world are funding the Search for Asteroids which
may threaten earth to the sum of Billions of Dollars!
That would require the
"meteorite storm" to last 18 to 24 hours. Revelation 16:21 "And there
fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight
of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail;
for the plague thereof was exceeding great."
The end of modern civilization, or the end of this world, will not
be a "natural catastrophe," although natural events will be involved.
What will bring the end of the world is the word of God. "The heavens
and earth shall pass away, but my word will not pass away." Luke 21:33,
2 Peter 3:10.
METEORITES FALLING LIKE HAIL FROM THE SKY!
"And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone
about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the
plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great." Rev 16:21
During the time of the seventh Vial, during the last weeks of
Daniel's 70th week, there will be a rain, or "Hail," of rocks fall on
all the earth for about twenty-four hours. For most of a night and day
meteorites weighing from 75 to 125 lbs (approximately 45 kg) falling at
velocity from 100 to 125 miles per hour (about 55 ms) will strike every
inhabited area of the world.
This hail of rocks may fall like a cape being drawn along the ground, so
that it covers an area briefly, passes over, then moves on; or this hail
may last for hours over the entire surface of the world.
All areas may or may not be saturated evenly. In some areas as few
as ten or twenty may strike inside a country mile, or a city block,
while other areas may be struck by hundreds or thousands. Some may
approach from an angle, while others fall straight down.
These "hail stones" will have an impact force of about 1,000
foot-pounds. This is roughly equal to being hit by a bullet fired from a
military rifle. The difference is that the bullet makes a little hole as
it passes through, while the stone will just crush what it hits.
Not many buildings can withstand the impact of a cannon ball weighing 45
kg fired at 55 m/s. A single impact on any average building will make a
hole through wall or roof, and several impacts will destroy most small
buildings.
"And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone
about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the
plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great." Rev 16:21
This Plague of Hail will not fall on God's People, but on the world
that rejected God and killed His two witnesses. This fact is revealed in
the words "men blasphemed God..." This is not God's People these
hailstones fall on, but men who will "blaspheme God, and die."
HOW WILL THIS PLAGUE HAPPEN?
What would be the approximate mass and velocity of a "rock" entering
the atmosphere in order for it to --
a) strike the earth at a terminal velocity of approximately 55 m/s, and
b) weigh (mass) about 45 kilograms? (About a "talent.")
1, The 'rock' (asteroid) will hit the atmosphere, become a meteor
and burn,
2, The remnant of the meteor will slow due to atmospheric breaking,
3, The remaining 'stone' (meteorite) will fall at terminal velocity
(about 55 m/s),
4, and hit the earth with a mass of about 45 kg.
WHERE WILL THIS PLAGUE COME FROM?
First, there is not one object (asteroid) or "stone" -- there are
thousands, hundreds of thousands, millions.
This cloud (or "swarm") of asteroids is moving toward the Sun in a
long cloud, so that the earth will pass through the cloud, and
meteorites (stones) will fall on the earth for about 24 hours.
This swarm (or cloud) of asteroids may be as long 25 to 50 thousands, or
hundreds of thousands, of miles. It may be 25 to 50 thousands of miles
in diameter.
The cloud is so dense; there are so many asteroids that hundreds of
thousands, or millions, of meteorites (stones) will fall all over the earth.
Since such a cloud is approaching the earth, when will astronomers
detect it? How long, before it begins to strike the earth, will
Astronomers be able to see it?
SIGNS IN THE HEAVENS
There are near infinite directions from which a swarm of asteroids
could approach the earth. However, an approach near the plane of the
ecliptic seems most reasonable. Four general directions seem likely:
from behind, or following, the direction of the sun's galactic orbit, or
from ahead. The approach may be from inside the central area of the
galaxy, or from outside moving inward.
If this cloud of asteroids approaches earth from the direction of
the sun, falling bodies would strike the day-side of earth. An approach
from the side away from sol would mean the falling bodies would strike
the night side of earth.
In either case, it seems likely that the approach of the asteroids
may (or should) be visible as they strike the planets between the cloud
and the sun, or between the cloud and the earth.
That is, if the cloud enters the solar system on the same side of
the sun as the earth, and crosses the orbits of the outer planets, the
impacts of those bodies should be visible to astronomers. On the other
hand, if the cloud enters the solar system on the side of the sun away
from the earth, then impacts on the outer planets should still be
visible to astronomers, and those that fall into the sun would be
visible during the day as comets days before they reach earth.
In either case, depending on the velocity of the swarm of asteroids,
the approach should be visible for some time, giving World Governments
and People some time for preparation.
This, in fact, is a sign: "There shall be signs in the sun, and in
the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with
perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for
fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth:
for the powers of heaven shall be shaken." Luke 21:25-26.
Yes, men will see what is coming on the earth.

tons, and is around two-thirds of a mile wide. The possible collision on
March 21, 2014, has been classified as "an event meriting careful
monitoring" on the Torino scale, which rates the chances of newly
discovered asteroids and comets hitting the Earth.
Note: The impact of this object has been ruled out.

That would require the
"meteorite storm" to last 18 to 24 hours. Revelation 16:21 "And there
fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight
of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail;
for the plague thereof was exceeding great."
The cloud is so dense; there are so many asteroids that hundreds of
thousands, or millions, of meteorites (stones) will fall all over the
earth.

Asteroid May Hit Earth March 21, 2014 AFP
Asteroid
Sept. 2, 2003 British astronomers monitoring near-Earth objects said
Tuesday there was a slim chance that a newly-discovered asteroid could
hit Earth in March 2014.
The large rock known as 2003 QQ47 has a mass of around 2.6 billion
tons, and is around two-thirds of a mile wide. The possible collision on
March 21, 2014, has been classified as "an event meriting careful
monitoring" on the Torino scale, which rates the chances of newly
discovered asteroids and comets hitting the Earth.
Note: The impact of this object has been ruled out.

The Governments of the world are funding the Search for Asteroids which
may threaten earth to the sum of Billions of Dollars!
That would require the
"meteorite storm" to last 18 to 24 hours. Revelation 16:21 "And there
fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight
of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail;
for the plague thereof was exceeding great."
The cloud is so dense; there are so many asteroids that hundreds of
thousands, or millions, of meteorites (stones) will fall all over the
earth.

Hello,
I am not sure if you are inferring that the earth itself will be
completely destroyed by such things or not.
No,
a) I am not inferring that the earth will be struck by a single, large,
asteroid...
It will, in fact, be struck by millions of small asteroids, which, when
they strike the earth (and men) will be about 70 to 100 pounds.
b) I am not inferring that the earth will be destroyed, completely or
otherwise, by an asteroid or asteroids...
The earth will be completely destroyed by God at the return of Christ.
2 Peter 3:3-12.

Then show us where it says that.
Re 16:21 And there fell upon men a great hail
You take the Bible literally in Revelation, yet call "hail",
"asteroids". That makes you a liar and a hypocrite.

If an asteroid was "the weight of a talent", it wouldn't be
