This person is racist, bigoted and tells lies, insults people and
claims to possess intelligence beyond my understanding.
Is this kind of behaviour what one expects of a Christian?

Are there any moderated newsgroups discussing Christianity open enough to
multiple viewpoints to allow postings by people who disagree with
Christianity?
I ask because I have seen some hateful rants posted by atheists here. Far
and away the STUPIDEST posts have been by those claiming to be Christians
though. If I were the moderator of a Christian newsgroup, I wouldn't allow
them to drag my religion through the mud the way they do.
I started a rash of postings June 9, and the occasion was I attended a
wedding that day at a Lutheran church. Now the groom is NOT a Christian, and
he told me right before the ceremony that he was NOT converted, but the
preacher went on and on about Jesus every other word, saying how important
and how wonderful it is when a couple shares a spiritual worldview, etc.
It was like he was hoping or expecting the groom to fall to his knees, raise
his hands, and yell "Hallelujah! Praise Jesus! I'm a sinner. Please forgive
me. Take me oh Lord. I'm Yours."
I was SO offended by the tone of this ceremony, the complete and utter
disrespect for the groom's beliefs, and for any in the audience (including
me) who don't buy the Christian version of spiritual belief, that I posted
thirty or forty messages in various newsgroups since June 9 and put up
several new pages spreading the TRUTH about what Christianity REALLY teaches
versus the LIES they tell you about it.
I'm sure the groom went along with the ***** only because of his love for
his bride. She is a Lutheran missionary! I've begun discussion with her on
spiritual topics before, but she judges Hinduism as making ourselves God,
when my understanding of it is that it is about REALIZING the God within. I
see the difference as being between making God your ego (good, and what
Christianity teaches too) versus making your ego God (what she mistakenly
seems to think Hinduism is about). Oh well...
To their credit, I think some Christians DO believe what their preacher
tells them to believe, and in some cases it helps them with their lives and
to help others. I don't agree with their interpretation of the Bible, and
from time to time I enjoy discussing this topic with others. It is difficult
because of the strong feelings so quickly excited in some people when they
feel their worldview is being threatened or even questioned.

Long is indeed a relative term but the question was hardly enigmatic.
For me, it only took a couple of posts and responses eight years ago to
discover that a lot of Xtians who post to Usenet distort the truth or just
outright lie about atheists. Some call it lying for Jesus.
