I think the subject title tells all one needs to know
about this Rapture fever.
What should God's people do? First of all we must realize that, as J.
Vernon McGee of Radio Bible Class once said, "God did not tell the
children of Israel to plant flowers in the wilderness!" Trying to make
the devil's domain pretty is a total waste of time. This world is not
our home and we are just pilgrims passing through.
And this is why this world goes to crap. Christians
thinking they have no moral, nor social responsibility
to make this world a better place. They get so caught
up this the Rapture hysteria, that they forget all
about being good citizens and figure, "Hey, we're gonna
be leaving here soon anyway, so what's the point?".
This is the opposite of what Jesus taught.
It amazes me how Christians abandon this world to the
Devil and then complain that the world is in a bad
state.
It amazes me how some Christians look at the world and
actually get happy that things are bad. They say,
"Yes! bring on the destruction! Bring on the Rapture!
Rapture me out of here, Jesus and destroy them!".
I wonder how they reconcile that with, "Love your
enemies. Bless those who curse you."?
Our sole responsibility is to be the best Christian we can be with God's help.
And somehow, today's end timer Christians interpret
that as letting the world go to Hell in a hand basket.
The Holy Spirit exerts His influence upon humanity through His Word
and through the lives of His children.
Not by telling them to forget about their
responsibilities to this world.
I say, "Yes, plant a flower! bring a little brightness
to someone's otherwise dreary life."
Nicely written. I see that you have done your homework.
Yea, nicely written if you want to do the Devil's work.
PD,
Not bad. Good point.
