No one can take the ten commandments away.
It's more important to keep them in our hearts than on a plaque or

There is plenty of room for God in private lives. We don't need our
Government forcing somebody's version of God on all of us.
Did you know that not all versions of the Ten Commandments are identically
worded? Who's version should we use? If we are to say this is a Christian
nation, then just which of the dozens of versions of Christianity should we
use?
Ok, so it's a Judeo-Christian nation, is it? I'm certain the Judeo part was
added only since it became uncool to be Anti-Semitic. So what of the
millions of Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists and others who came to America to be
free.
There is plenty of religion in America. In fact it is one of the most
religious nations on earth. And one of the things that keeps America great
is its tolerance for different religions. The last thing we need in this
country is a religious government. That will directly lead to a lack of
tolerance for religions that are not deemed to be "acceptable."

You obviously are not aware that the ACLU, along with other groups, has done
nothing to "take the Ten Commandments away". You want them in your home &
Church? Fine. But don't tell me that they cn be legally used to proselitize
on public property.
The Surpreme

If your God did not "destroy this earth and give up on man kind [sic]"
when you religious nuts claimed that his 13 billion year old
masterpiece (the universe) is a 4000 year old knock-off, He sure as
hell won't destroy this earth based on a Supreme Court ruling
regarding what religious displays can appear on public property
in accordance with the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
But maybe we can compromise. We'll keep the following:
Thou shall not steal.
Thou shall not commit adultery.
Thou shall not kill.
Thou shall not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
After all, many politicians need a reminder of those, most of the
voters would like to see our elected officials behave better, and
those particular ones are not intrinsically religous in nature.
We'll throw out the First Commandment. It isn't appropriate on
government property to put up a display saying "Thou shall have no
other gods before me" in a country whose residents include Buddhists,
Shintoists, Hindus, and atheists in addition to Christians,
Muslims, and Jews.
So, what do you guys think? :-)

Canadians Will Lose Religious Freedom Once Homosexual Marriage Is
Entrenched
Washington, DC - Canadian Priest Raymond J. de Souza has recently
written "Thinly Disguised Totalitarianism," an essay for First Things
that describes a frightening scenario emerging in Canada over the
relationship between homosexual marriage and religious oppression.
De Souza notes that once an Ontario court ruled in 2003 that
homosexual marriages were legal under Canada's Charter of Rights and
Freedoms, the rush was on to spread this new-found "right" throughout
Canada. Former Prime Minister Jean Chretien and his successor both
refused to appeal the court's decision and directed the legislature to
rewrite Canada's laws on marriage. The legislation exempted Canada's
clergy from having to perform homosexual marriages-but the future of
this exemption is currently in doubt.
According to de Souza, "The Canadian federal government has asked the
chief judicial authority whether a bill which exempts religion's
blessings of marriage from government redefinition is constitutional.
One would hope that the question need not even be asked."
De Souza predicts that Canada's increasingly totalitarian government
will first force churches to rent out their facilities for same-sex
couple's wedding receptions. Then, religious charities will be forced
to recognize employees' same-sex relationships. Eventually, religious
schools will not be allowed to fire homosexual teachers who are
"married." Little by little, the Canadian government's pro-homosexual
rulings will be used to strangle and suppress religious freedom and
expression.
The author notes that this oppression is already a reality in Ontario.
In 2002, an Ontario court ordered a Catholic high school to allow two
homosexual teens to attend the school's prom night. The judge heard
Catholic opinions on why this should not be allowed but sided with the
homosexual students. This case is still meandering through the appeals
system.
In 2003, the House of Commons added "sexual orientation" to Canada's
"hate speech" code. The Senate has yet to act on this, but if passed,
it will create a Thought Police system that will suppress any
utterances considered to be critical of homosexual behavior. Once this
law is passed, it is entirely possible that priests and pastors could
be prosecuted for simply quoting the Bible on sodomy.
De Souza is correct to fear the imposition of a homosexual-inspired
totalitarianism system upon freedom of speech and religion in Canada.
He notes that Canada's thinly disguised totalitarianism is perfectly
described by former Italian dictator Benito Mussolini who defined
Fascism as: "Everything within the state, nothing against the state,
nothing outside the state." Clearly, homo-fascism is a powerful force
in Canada.
Those with religious convictions about the legalization of same-sex
marriage in the United States would do well to look at where Canada is
headed. The same fate awaits us if we do not block the legalization of
same-sex marriage here.

I have repeatedly posted the full text of bill C-38 and asked those who
have posted this article, or made similar claims, to tell me where
[after considering paragraph 3] the loss of Canadians religious freedom
occurs. To date, none have replied preferring their religionist
hysteria and "sky is falling" rhetoric to actual facts. It never ceases
to amaze me how the religionists are prepared to lie and deny to further

1960's.
The insanity of blacks and whites marrying was a terrible threat forced down
the throats of Christian Americans back then. And, of course, you can see
how the institution and influence of religion in the US has faded to almost
nothing because of it. Churches will certainly vanish completely if gays are
allowed to marry!

God Bless you. I couldn't have said it as well, had I taken days to write
it.
Rove certainly knows how common Americans think. That's how he hijacked this
election. Imagine, the deciding factor in an American presidential election
was the "threat" of gay marriage! We're being drained dry by this
administration, financially. There are hordes of terrorists smacking their
lips, dreaming of the day when a nuke can be successfully detonated atop the
Empire State Building, the middle east is in chaos and this election was won
on the basis of how much Americans do not understand gays. They view gays as
more dangerous than Osama bin Laden! As if we want to "recruit" anyone!
That's such horse *****, but it sticks well enough to bind the ignorant
together long enough to vote back into office the most dangerous man ever to
serve as this nation's leader. How do we get people to realize that most of
them will never be among the ranks of the super rich (the only people to
profit from the hijacking of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights). Their
children will come to understand the damage done, but as a gay man, that's
not something I have to worry about (except for the children of my friends,
youngsters whom I adore as if they were my own children). Who is looking out
for their futures? Not Karl Rove or Bush or Cheney (who loves his own gay
daughter). We were used as whipping "boys" for the Repuglicans, and it was
an idea that worked. Now the same folks who brought you Swiftboat are trying
to tie AARP to gays and they say that AARP is against our soldiers in Iraq.
It's enough to make you laugh hysterically, except that it makes me cry.
Many people eat this propaganda up with a spoon.
This is an evil and very dangerous regime. I don't know how to stop
them. All I can do is expose them for the cowardly liars they are.

Washington, DC - Canadian Priest Raymond J. de Souza has recently
written "Thinly Disguised Totalitarianism," an essay for First Things
that describes a frightening scenario emerging in Canada over the
relationship between homosexual marriage and religious oppression.
Here is the complete text of bill C-38 which is currently before
Parliament. This is the bill that will make same-sex marriage legal
nationally;it is presently legal in 7 provinces and 1 territory]:
= = = =
1) this act may be cited as the *Civil Marriage Act*
2) Marriage, for civil purposes, is the lawful union of two persons to
the exclusion of all others.
3) it is recognised that officials of religious groups are free to
refuse to perform marriages that are not in accordance with their
religious beliefs
4) for greater certainty, a marriage is not void or voidable by reason
only that the spouses are of the same sex.
= = = =
Please point out to me, after giving due consideration to paragraph 3)
of the bill, just exactly where anyone will have their S2(a) Charter
rights to freedom OF and FROM religion abrogated. Feel free to be as
detailed as you want, and to cite any relevant laws or judicial
decisions necessary, to make your case.

Karl, I see that you have not yet responded to the copy of bill C-38 I
posted to show where it will cause Canadians to loose religious
freedoms. You and Raymond J. de Souza weren't giving us yet another
example of religionist hypocrisy and bearing false witness against your
Canadian neighbours now were you?

IOW you are unable to provide any proof that bill C-38 will abrogate
Canadians religious freedoms.
The one
stating that religious freedom is in danger speaking much more loudly
though.
It might be longer and more eloquent but it is incorrect... and could
actually be considered a lie! Nobody who is moaning and winging about
Canadian religious freedom has been able to point out just exactly where
bill C-38 abrogates anyone's religious freedom.
Don't you agree?
Obviously not as I am conversant with the facts and have read the
actual legislation rather then relying on religionist FUD and false witness.

Don't be a drama queen. What is being taken away is your right to cram
these obsolete commandments (which all modern day Republicans ignore)
down others' throats who don't believe in the sky god Jehovah.
