Correct. And I believe preterists are doing the same thing.
They are influenced by those who scoff, so it's as if they try
to come up with an explanation for the Lord's delay, that's
completely ridiculous:

It's almost as ridiculous as people saying that Jesus is going to "beam
them
up" when the trouble really starts rolling in instead of teaching that
Jesus
will carry them through the trouble by faith, even if they have to die for
that faith, which is what Jesus taught every step of His ministry.

That the church has been going through trouble and tribulation
already, shows you don't have to go through the Tribulation of
Revelation 4-19, in order to experience the kind of
tribulation it describes for the church.

Otherwise, you'd
have to have Revelation referring to a 2,000 year long
tribulation, just to make sure the whole church got it's fair
share of necessary affliction.

The only people you have
Christ giving instruction for, regarding _that_ tribulation,
is the Jews, and they (not the church) are clearly the 144,000
of God's chosen people Revelation refers to.

What's even more ridiculous is someone going outside of his or her faith
to
embrace such lies.

You mean like you trying to read the evolution myth into
Genesis, when no one would ever derive such an understanding
from the text of the Bible, unless they were trying to make it
accommodate a myth or fable?

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but
after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having

ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be

Thus they fuel scoffing, rather than simply admit the time
until the Lord would return is being measured according to
God's patience, not man's.

supplanting sound doctrine with a pleasant-sounding myth which will never
happen.

If the church isn't raptured before the wrath of Revelation
4-19 falls on the inhabitants of the earth, it'll be pre-trib
rapturists who scoff at pre-trib rapture doctrine, not the
world.

God has not appointed the church to the wrath which
will overtake the lost during the Tribulation (1 Thess. 5).
