CWA Applauds Kansas Attorney General for Defending Victims of Child Rape

WASHINGTON, Feb. 28 /Christian Wire Service/ -- Concerned Women for =
America (CWA) applauded Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline for seeking =
to defend victims of child rape. He needs the abortion clinic records of =
potential victims in order to do his job. But instead of helping him, =
abortionists are fighting Attorney General Kline tooth and nail.
"Attorney General Kline's request for the records is a bold attempt to =
prosecute sexual predators of minor girls," said Wendy Wright, CWA's =
senior policy director. "Sexual predators who force girls to undergo =
abortions in order to cover up the evidence of their criminal activity =
too often evade the law, thanks to abortion clinics who are disguising =
criminal activity as a privacy issue. It is not unheard of for medical =
records to be attained in criminal investigations. It happens with =
Medicaid fraud."
According to Kansas public documents, 78 Kansas children were reported =
as victims of some form of sexual abuse in 2003.
"All health and service entities that come in contact with potential =
abuse of minors, sexual or physical, are required to report such abuse =
to investigating agencies; this is for the protection of those who =
cannot protect themselves and to expose those who prey upon them," said =
Judy Smith, CWA of Kansas state director Judy Smith, who leads the =
5,540-member state organization. "The exploitation of children in our =
communities must be stopped. We must protect them, not the predators. It =
is the duty of investigative agencies and the attorney general to =
investigate all abuse; we must not allow the courts to tie their hands."
"Abortion clinics shouldn't be permitted to hide incriminating evidence =
of their alleged violations of the law," said Wright. "Abortion clinics =
are simply attempting to direct the spotlight away from themselves in =
order to disguise the assistance they offer to rapists by committing =
abortions on the victims."
