god tried to MURDER a second grader, missed

COLUMBUS, Ohio - A gun in a bookbag discharged in an elementary school
classroom Monday and the second grader who brought it was shot in the hand,
police said.
The injury to the 7-year-old was not believed to be life threatening. Police
are not certain why the gun went off. A shell casing was found in the
bookbag.
A classmate of the boy, Brittani Palmer, said she saw the boy show the gun
to another boy, who didn't want to touch it. She said she went to her desk,
heard a pop and saw the boy shaking his hand.
There were 15 children in class when the gun went off at 9 a.m., police Sgt.
David Sicilian said.
The school was not closed, and fourth graders at Leawood Elementary School
took standardized tests as scheduled.
The child was taken to Children's Hospital, but the mother would not
authorize the release of any information about his condition, said Amy
Ranalli, a hospital spokeswoman. She said the mother would not give
interviews.
Police have the .45-caliber pistol and were talking to the boy's mother,
said Sherry Mercurio, a police spokeswoman.
"She indicated she had no idea where the weapon came from," Sicilian said.
School Superintendent Gene Harris visited the hospital and said the boy's
mother was upset. She said the district sent counselors to the school of 427
students to support students, parents and teachers.
Though classes remained in session, some parents did take children home.
"I know it was an accident, but it could have been worse than that," said
Brittani's father, Brian Young, who took his three children out of the
school.
Kim Bell, 46, standing outside of the school with her fourth-grade son, said
teachers tried to keep the shooting quiet so not to scare the other
children.
"It's a very good school, very good teachers. It's not a school a kid would
bring a gun to," she said.
She said she heard about the shooting on television and rushed to the
school, which is just around the corner from her home.
School officials did not consider the shooting to be enough of a distraction
to stop the tests for the fourth graders, said Andrew Marcelain, a district
spokesman. The fourth-grade classrooms are in a different wing of the
building from where the shooting happened.
School officials said a letter detailing what happened would go home with
students at the end of the day.

An SUV jumped the curb and plowed into a bench at a municipal bus stop
Monday, killing four people and scattering bodies, broken glass and
schoolbooks.
The driver was jailed on suspicion of driving under the influence, police
said.
The Ford Explorer skidded along a concrete wall about 10 miles from the Las
Vegas Strip and demolished the bench on which the victims were sitting,
police said.
"Basically the bench is attached to the cement wall," Sgt. Chris Jones said.
"There was no place for them to go."
The victims were not immediately identified but appeared to be in their
middle and late teens, Jones said.
The 34-year-old driver was not seriously hurt.

I don't think murder is a joke, especially since the religious fruitcakes
keep saying how "loving, and caring" god is.
