Biltmore man dies in late-night fire
Times-Union
A Biltmore man has died of injuries suffered in a late-night fire, according
to authorities.
The unidentified 52-year-old man was found inside his Witten Road South home
after Jacksonville firefighters were called just after 10 p.m.
He was taken to Baptist Hospital in critical condition, where he later died.
The State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating, but no cause of the fire
has been determined. The fire appeared to have started in the living room.
Police said the man had called a relative the night before and said he was
worried about going to jail and provided the relative with bank account
numbers and information about insurance policies.
