Debate challenge for FUNDAMENTALIST Christian only. KJV Onlyism on iidb.org |
http://www.iidb.org/vbb/showthread.php?p=3090524#post3090524
I'd like to debate with a born again FUNDAMENTALIST on KJV Onlyism.
Many FUNDAMENTALISTS believe that the authorized 1611 version is the
only Holy Word of God. While I am also FUNDAMENTALIST I do not hold to
such views, but have many questions for KJV Only christians, and have
found many errors in this line of reasoning. The KJV being a very good
translation does have a number of translation errors. No these are not
doctrinal errors, but grammatical errors and translation issues.
For one the KJV believes "corn" came from Egypt. The NKJV corrects this
error and replaces all "corn" occurences with "wheat."
NOTE- I will not debate with an atheist
I will not debate with a evangelical or charismatic christian
I will not debate with a member of a cult (Mormons, JW's,etc)
And I will not debate with a counterfeit christian. Yes this means that
you must hold to the essentials of the faith. You must not deny
essential doctrine. There are many people claiming to be Christians
today, but are really wolves, counterfeits or terrorists.
But if your FUNDAMENTALIST there is a almost zero probability that you
would deny essential historical doctrine.
I'd say a 1-2 week interval would be appropiate, and a debate of 4
rounds.

John 1:6-9 There came a man who was sent from God;
his name was John. He came as a witness to testify
concerning that light, so that through him all men
might believe. He himself was not the light; he came
only as a witness to the light.

I am not a Fundamentalist and I am not debating. Nor am I a KJV only
radical. This however, is an easy one. In British English (even modern
British English) "corn" simply means "grain". The 1611 (and earlier)
translators _did_not_ mean "maize" when they said "corn" (unlike us
American English speakers).

This is one example of over 800 words used in the KJT the meanings of
which have changed since the KJT was done.
BTW: I am guessing that you are referring to Genesis, Chapter 41.
The word used in the original Hebrew is "shibolim" which means "the
head of grain on a grain bearing grass (corn could be included)." The
species of grain is not actually mentioned in the original text.
NOTE- I will not debate with an atheist
If you are a Christian or a Jew, your life itself should be a constant
statement that Atheists and Pagans are wrong.
I will not debate with a evangelical or charismatic christian
Do you consider these to be cults?
Do you consider them to bee so steeped in false interpretation of
Scripture that they cannot learn?
I will not debate with a member of a cult (Mormons, JW's,etc)
Since the word "cult" can mean "any religion" and is usually used for
"anyone else's religion," your "etc" is pretty vague. Would you care
to list examples?
And I will not debate with a counterfeit christian. Yes this means that
you must hold to the essentials of the faith. You must not deny
essential doctrine. There are many people claiming to be Christians
today, but are really wolves, counterfeits or terrorists.

would deny essential historical doctrine.
That depends on what YOU mean by "Fundamentalist."
How strict is your Fundamentalism?
I assume that you believe that all of the Bible is true. I agree with
that.
You already stated that you are not a KJT/KJV onlyist.
What importance do you attibute to the Original Hebrew and ancient
Greek texts?
Do you believe that all of the Bible is literal?
Do you believe in Sola Scriptura?
I'd say a 1-2 week interval would be appropiate, and a debate of 4
rounds.

Something that BJ would likely know if he ever had bothered to get a
REAL education!
