1 Samuel 2:12-17: Eli's sons are wicked, allowing the priest to steal
some of the meat that's supposed to be sacrificed.
2:22-25: Eli rebukes his sons for the above sin against God, and also
for having sex with the temple women. His sons ignore him.
3:11-14: God tells Samuel that he is condemning Eli and his family
because he failed to reprove his sons for blaspheming God. This puzzles
me, since in 1 Samuel 2:22-25, Eli had rebuked his sons for sinning
against God by permitting the meat theft, and I had thought that
"rebuke" and "reprove" meant the same thing. What is the difference
between those two words?
