Object: End Time Mindsets
There seems to be some discernable end time mindsets you can glean from
usenet. Here are a few I picked up:
1. Denial. Everything is fine. Don't worry, be happy.
2. The Grasshopper Mindset. This is the one: "God will provide for me.
Adhered to by those who don't work, and their cupboards go bare. Oh, I'm
trusting Jesus.
3. Fatalism. No matter what you do, it's going to happen anyway, so why
prepare. A variant on Grasshopper Syndrome, compounded by the Anti-Ant
Syndrome.
4. Oh, I won't be here for that. (See Matthew 24: 29-31 KJV)
5. I'm sure the Government will provide: (See Various News Reports on New
Orleans)
6. God wouldn't do that. He is a pacificist God... (See Holy Bible)
7. I'm a good person. God will usher me into the Kingdom. God don't send
Good People to Hell. (Luke 16)
8. The Media tells me how to bake with Martha Stewart. If something bad
was really happening, wouldn't they prempt Martha for it?
9. My riches and gold will save me: Is gold tasty with marinara sauce??
10. The Warners: Those who take time out of their lives to warn people on
the Internet, having a world wide audience, in the face of insurmountable
odds: Bearing the brunt of many ad hominem attacks.
There you have it folks: A complete and utterly true summary of usenet.

Denial is the last refuge of the coward. all Bush supporters are in this
catagory.

2. The Grasshopper Mindset. This is the one: "God will provide for me.

nothing wrong with "Fatalism" - it is not seen much in our Western
Culture anymore. But is HUGE in Middle Eastern and Far Eastern Cultures
-as well as big here in the last century.
From a Biblical prespective - there is alot to support the "fatalistic"
view of God and his actions WRT men.
Does man control God?

4. Oh, I won't be here for that. (See Matthew 24: 29-31 KJV)

well - some won't. none of us know when our last day here will be.

5. I'm sure the Government will provide: (See Various News Reports on New
Orleans)

??

6. God wouldn't do that. He is a pacificist God... (See Holy Bible)

true - sort of. however Sermon on the Mount would support this trend.

7. I'm a good person. God will usher me into the Kingdom. God don't send
Good People to Hell. (Luke 16)

see above......Bible contradicts itself from book to book - different
authors different perspectives.

8. The Media tells me how to bake with Martha Stewart. If something bad
was really happening, wouldn't they prempt Martha for it?

true. its all about money.

9. My riches and gold will save me: Is gold tasty with marinara sauce??

mammon.

10. The Warners: Those who take time out of their lives to warn people on
the Internet, having a world wide audience, in the face of insurmountable
odds: Bearing the brunt of many ad hominem attacks.

eagleye/cox/you and me.

You forgot yourself. People who claim that the daily
news is Bible prophecy being fulfilled and keep
switching the "fulfillment" from what they claimed,
to the next day's news, without admitting they were
wrong for the last 1,000 days.

Try this on for size:
1. There's no god. Just Bronze and Iron Age myths.
2. People have been prediciting the imminent End of the World since
the beginning of the Christian Era. Each one was sure he was right,
but was obviously wrong.
Read this page for loving list of religious nutcases who *knew* that
the End Times were nigh.. starting in 53 AD for the Christers.

3. You are a loon. Really, seriously over the edge.

From my understanding the Sumerians were well advanced, having great
knowledge about astronomy. Also, using batteries made of copper cylinders,
powered by grape juice.

True. But never before in the history of the world is it more near than now

I don't have to read it: I got the greatest Newspaper in the world; The
KJV Bible. In it, I can know everything, from beginning to end.

3. You are a loon. Really, seriously over the edge.

Your judging me cause you have a contrary view of my opinions. Had we met
in real life, we probably would of went out for Coffee. Just cause two can
agree to disagree, don't make them a "Loon." I'd like to see the Joint
Chief of Staffs having a debate at the Presidents' desk, and one of them
jumping up: "Mr. President: This General is a Loon!" I think they would
both be out of a job. So keep personal attacks out of it, and just stick to
the Thread :) Thanks.

Non Sequitur. First of all, the Sumerians had their own nutty
beliefs. Secondly, they didn't write your Bible.

Really? Who is going to win the World Series this year?
Your refusal to even look at another source of information shows you
for what you are: a fantical loon.

3. You are a loon. Really, seriously over the edge.

Your judging me cause you have a contrary view of my opinions.

No, I am judging you based on what you write. You're a nutcase.

Had we met
in real life, we probably would of went out for Coffee.

Doubtful. I don't hang out with religious fanatics who refuse to
accept scientific facts.

Just cause two can
agree to disagree, don't make them a "Loon."

Yes, but your words make you one. Son, you were asking if hurricanes
were evidence of a "hyperdimensional invasion." That is sheer lunacy.

Heh, I was assigned to the Five-Sided Funny Farm back in the day.
Arguments between general officers did reach that level often.

No I wasn't. Not in seriousness. Someone had posted a post called
Hyperdimensional Katrina. I just wondered if some black op scientists was
feeling talkative to open that door more. You, I think have went on the
same level as pastor dave. So welcome to my block senders list.
