For the week of October 12, 2003
ETERNAL LIFE IS REAL
To Read: Lamentations 1-3
To Know:
"Thus says the Lord: 'Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh
his arm, whose heart turns away from the Lord.'" (Jer.17: 5)
In 1932, the Germans entrusted themselves to Adolph Hitler. The treaty of
Versailles following Word War I had humiliated the German people. The nation
's economy was in shambles. The industrial district was given to France. The
lands in the east became Czechoslovakia. Germany's future was bleak. Hitler
preached revenge. He would restore German honor. The Fuehrer offered himself
as his people's hope. History reveals how misplaced was the faith of the
German people. Hitler's boast of a thousand-year Reich lasted only four
thousand days.
The kingdom of Christ is already two thousand years old. Jesus was first
enthroned on the cross. On that cruel tree Christ conquered our original
enemy. The kingdom of our Lord Jesus will now never, ever end.
To Answer:
Do I view all of life through the faith that is now mine in Christ?
Do I understand why no peace effort that excludes the Prince of Peace can
succeed?
Are you willing to believe that if Christ died for you that he will not
withhold from you whatever else you need?
