Faith? |
Why do all you people believe in God and the bible?
After all there is no proof to support any of it!
Infact there is more proof to debunk it, yet millions of people still
cling to the idea that a super being is wathching over us all.
Why is this?

VO,
Which type of faith?
The measure of faith is supplied equally to all believers.
Romans 12:3 KJV
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among
you, not to think [of himself] more highly than he ought to think; but
to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure
of faith.

You really should find out what the varying definitions of faith are.
YOU equate it with simple belief or "a religion". The Catholics do the
same. They refer to "their" faith.

There are three definitions and thus three uses of the English word faith.
Faith is not like obtuse, having relevancy to the subject. To some the
definition of the word faith is an obtuse concept and thus should not be
discussed.
They have a real difficulty in handling one definition or application, much
less three.

VO,
Faith, from pistis, is a noun. The verb form of pistis is pisteou (to
believe). God gives all of His children the same measure of faith
through which they are able to perform supernatural things.
Anyone can believe. Unbelievers can read and believe the Word of God
and appropriate the results that right believing causes to be.
Hebrews 10:38 KJV
Now the just shall live by faith: but if [any man] draw back, my soul
shall have no pleasure in him.
Hebrews 10:39 KJV
But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that
believe to the saving of the soul.
There should not have been a chapter break at verse 39 because verse
one continues the topic:
Hebrews 11:1 KJV
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things
not seen.
Hebrews 11:2 KJV
For by it the elders obtained a good report.
Then it lists examples of those whose "faith" appropriated what God
had promised. If you go back to the Old Testament and read what the
people did you will see that they "believed" what God promised. So,
yes, by the noun faith Abraham obtained a good report. But the faith
was what Abraham did in response to what God said. Faith without
works is dead - it's just a noun until it becomes a verb.
Long story short, believing is obedience to God's Word. When we
believe God's Word we do it, we obey it and appropriate the results
that believing causes. God does not tell us to have blind faith. God
tells us "this is the truth" "believe and obey or act upon what I
said is truth." When Jesus would say things like "O ye of little
faith" He was referring to believing; their lack of believing
obedience to what they knew to be true or should have known to be
true.

Many atheists are graduates from very esteemed Colleges.

I have all the fancy degrees you ever hoped or imagined. I also have
successfully gone through three different bible colleges (differing
theologies). I ALSO know what the words translated to "faith" contextually
mean and especially that we don't create or imagine it. If we did, we would
be absolutely no different than any other religion.

JERRY
So, I think you made that up, and I'm calling you for your cite on it,
or admit you are just blowing it out your *****. ;-)
VO
Apparently you can't read a dictionary.
Many atheists are graduates from very esteemed Colleges.
I said get an education.
I have all the fancy degrees you ever hoped or imagined.
JERRY
So does Jason Gastrich, he says. However a little bit of digging shows
that he's full of hot air and doesn't have any degrees worth claiming.
VO
I also have successfully gone through three different bible colleges (dif=
fering theologies).
JERRY
That explains your lack of critical thinking skills.
VO
I ALSO know what the words translated to "faith" contextually
mean and especially that we don't create or imagine it.
JERRY
Then, with all that education you should have no problem whatsoever
providing evidence to support your claim rather than offering an
opinion as an unsupported assertion.
VO
If we did, we would be absolutely no different than any other religion.
JERRY
Psssst. Christians AREN'T any different than any other religion. You
still believe in something for which there is no evidence, just like
the Muslims, just like the Hindi.
And, you seem to have little in the way of comprehension and critical
thinking abilities when you read your own book. The bible cannot be
the word of an omnipotent, omniscient being as you claim as it fails to
be historically accurate, it fails to be prophetically correct, and it
contradicts itself within it's own pages. A book could be written
alone on the differences and problems between the book of John and the
synoptic gospels.
