OK I will add to that:
From Luke 6- The parable of the wise and foolish builders
46 Why do you call me Lord Lord and do not do what I say? 47 I will
show you what it he is like who comes to me and hears my words and
outs them into practice. 48 He is like a man building a house, who
dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the
torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well
built. 49 But the one who hears my words and does not put them into
practice is like a man who built his house on the ground without
foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed
and its destruction was complete.
The" works" he commands of us are---
1) to love God above all things
( and this will bear good fruit, and will be a good seed that takes
root )
and then
2) to love our neighbors as ourselves ( even our enemies)
and then he prayed to the Father for his disciples and sent them out
into the world giving then the great commisson that they preach the
good news and do as he commanded.....but he told them to wait until
they recieved the Holy Spirit
His message of hope and salvation lives in us, that we can show he did
not die in vain.***

One is neither saved nor kept by works (2 Timothy 1:9), but good works
naturally follow salvation (Ephesians 2:10).
There is a system of balances found in the Scriptures when it comes to
rewards, but not to salvation, which is a gift (Romans 6:23). These works
will be weighed on God's scales and put through judgmental fire. Thus, a
system of addition and subtraction can be found at the Judgment Seat of
Christ. Quality works, performed for the glory of God to win the souls of
men when tested and found genuine, will earn crowns for the faithful for all
eternity. They are likened to gold, silver, and precious stones (1
Corinthians 3:12-15). Eternal life is freely bestowed upon all who believe
as a gift apart from works (Romans 6:23), and cannot be forfeited, but
crowns can be earned and lost, accumulated and liquidated.
A Christian can accumulate rewards while he is on earth and then lose them
before his death or the Rapture by foolish living. These are the
consequences of a Christian living in sin (not loss of salvation, but of
rewards ... saved so as by fire (1 Corinthians 3:15 2 John 1:8 Revelation
3:11 2 Timothy 4:7,8).
At the Judgment Seat of Christ, the Lord Jesus Christ will present a number
of crowns for specific service:
The Watcher's Crown (a Crown of Righteousness), given to all who longingly
and desiringly watch for Christ's return (2 Timothy 4:8).
The Runner's Crown (an Incorruptible Crown), for all who strive for the
mastery by keeping bodily appetites under control and being temperate in all
things (1 Corinthians 9:24-27).
The Shepherd's Crown (a Crown of Glory) reserved for faithful ministers (1
Peter 5:1-4).
The Soulwinner's Crown (a Crown of Rejoicing), for those who bring others to
the Saviour (1 Thessalonians 2:19; Psalm 126:5,6; Luke 15:5,6,7,10).
The Sufferer's Crown (a Crown of Life), for those who have suffered for the
sake of Christ and the gospel (James 1:12; Matthew 5:10-12). It is also
given to those who are faithful unto the end (Revelation 2:10).
May the joy of the Lord be with you

THERE ARE NO REQUIREMENTS;
There may be those who will readily admit that it is
impossible to purchase God's salvation with money,
but who at the same time insist that there is some sort
of price to pay for it. To all such, the following
Scripture should make it plain that salvation is
without price:
"Being justified freely by His grace through the
redemption that is in Christ Jesus" (Rom. 3:24).
"Freely" here means "gratuitously," "without a cause,"
"for naught."
And "grace means "everything for nothing to one who
deserves nothing but judgment."
We are justified "freely" and "by His grace." Further
more, this salvation is also to be had Without Works!
Most persons have difficulty in believing that salvation
is without works. They seem to be satisfied that they
cannot purchase salvation in any way, but they entertain
the thought that they can work for it. Let all such consider
the following passage:
"Not of works, lest any man should boast"
(Ephesians 2:9).
In the mind of Christ,
Michael
"If any
man ascribes anything of salvation, even the very least
thing, to the free will of man, he knows nothing of grace,
and he has not learned the teachings of Christ."

Jesus commanded us to love our neighbors. If we don't obey His commandments,
we cannot obtain eternal life. So if we give a beggar a dollar in Jesus'
name, we very well could "earn" our salvation - as you like to cynically put
it.
