Focus on the Family? More Christian delusions. |
Family Values, right? Here's what Jesus says:
26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and
mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters,
yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
Luke 14:26 (KJV)
Does that sound like "love thy neighbor" to you?
"..Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."
Matt 22:39 (KJV)
Oh! Wait! They'll say, "it's out of context!" It really
means the same thing. It's not contradictory. It's...it's...
I'll say it again. Christians are delusional.

I'll say it again. Fundy atheists are delusional.

Another word for "context", right? Jesus was just hyping?
But is it contradictory? That is the question. Is it?
Put your delusion to the test. Does hate everybody and love
thy neighbor mean the same thing? Or not?
Yes ___
No ____

IOW ... more shell game, warped, invented justifications.
"The bible is to be taken as truth and fact - unless "we" decide it means
something other than what is says."

It's a shameless attempt to change the /meaning/ of the word
"hate" into something "softer". But you're forgetting
something obvious...
If these are the inspired works of a god, then the words
mean what they mean, not what they don't mean. In other
words, they were not written to deceive, but to inform; the
words written are therefore exactly as intended.
See, if we can start arbitrarily changing the /meaning/ of
words from what they actually mean, then the entirety of the
bible becomes meaningless according to our whims.
(I.e., God doesn't really mean god, it means "powerful man",
and so forth.) If it is inspired by god, one must assume god
knows the meaning of the words represented to be his word.
Otherwise, how could it be inspired?
How could it say something 'other than' what god wanted it
to say? How therefore could it /mean/ something other than
what it says?
