Object: Gastrich says that Google threatened me...
Well, here's the latest from Gastrich, posting as "Fraud Buster,"
http://groups.google.com/group/Malebogecom/msg/52edf3c2ea776dbc
First things first. Gastrich is, as usual, lying. He tells two lies
that we can spot, right away. The first is his continued pretense that
somebody called "Fraud Buster" exists, and it's not him. Gastrich was
outed as "Fraud Buster" quite some time ago, but he thinks his readers
are stupid and either won't figure that out, or don't know, or won't
remember because it was a while back. But Gastrich even tried emailing
himself back and forth as himself and "Fraud Buster," in an attempt to
perpetuate the fraud. Of course, he didn't really fool anyone. There
was quite a bit of evidence that nailed it.
The second lie is by implication from the title of the post, i.e.,
"Google Condemns Dave Horn's Unethical Actions with Legal Threats."
The implication that Gastrich wants to leave and lead the reader to
believe is that Google has responded to some action or another of mine,
declared it "unethical," and has threatened me with legal action. None
of these things. I've received no contact from Google--certainly
nothing that would indicate that they are even particularly unhappy
with me. They certainly haven't threatenened me with anything.
Now let's get to the message, itself:

As we reported earlier in August, Dave Horn has encouraged
unbelievers to illegally and dishonestly inflate the click count
(and expense) for clicking on Google Ads that contain Dr.
Jason Gastrich's web site; which is a 501(c)(3), non-profit
Christian ministry. Horn has not only encouraged this deceit
on Usenet, but also on a popular, atheist internet forum.

He said, "By the way, yes, one can do a Google search for
"Gastrich" and find that there is a "sponsored link." By clicking
on it, one is taken to his site, and Gastrich pays Google
every time that happens.

Since hit count is what Gastrich is all about, I say we give
him what he wants, and we click through the ad whenever we
want to visit his page, which should be frequent...after all,
he wants us to be saved, right?"

And I responded to Gastrich's whimperings here:
http://groups.google.com/group/maleboge/msg/dac0202d5f6edbc7
Gastrich, of course, pretends that my response never happened, but it
did, and it won't go away. The fact is that, yes, I found that
Gastrich pays to advertise on Google and I wrote that, yes, we should
click through those ads to get to Gastrich's site whenever we want to
visit the page. As the reader can see by clicking on the link above,
Gastrich never showed how this was "fraud," "cheating," or "theft,"
even though he claimed that it was. What others do with the
"click-through" information is, of course, up to them, but if Gastrich
can demand honorariums for his "debates," I can expect him to pay if he
wants me to read the stuff on his web site, so I click through the
advertising.
What's interesting here is what it affirms about Gastrich's motives.
Gastrich is well-known for his propensity for self-promotion, and
advertising through Google is just another example of that. However,
Gastrich also claims to be running a "ministry," and part of this
"ministry" is evangelism of "unbelievers." We can forget for the
moment that he is quite incompetent at that, and not one "unbeliever"
has ever come forth and stated that he became a Christain through
Gastrich's efforts and evangelism. If Gastrich is running a
"ministry," why is he so concerned with the pittance that he might have
to pay for the occasional click-throughs of "unbelievers" who do not
become saved? Isn't it more important that "unbelievers," regardless
of who they are, see the materials on his site, perhaps to eventually
be persuaded by them and become saved? Even Gastrich has said that
it's a good thing, for example, that *I* read his "devotions."
Gastrich is obviously more concerned about the money than he is the
saving of souls.

This sort of click manipulation is strictly prohibited by
Google.

There is no "click manipulation." I wrote:

Since hit count is what Gastrich is all about, I say we give
him what he wants, and we click through the ad whenever we
want to visit his page, which should be frequent...after all,
he wants us to be saved, right?"

I wrote what was intended. What other people do about that is their
own business.

In fact, they say that they will even prosecute those
who engage in this sort of behavior. "Any advertiser or
publisher participating in invalid click activity or any
related offense is subject to legal prosecution. We will
also take the appropriate action on the related account."

Google continues and says, "Google strictly prohibits
any method used to artificially generate invalid clicks or
page impressions and closely monitors clicks on Google
AdWords ads to prevent abuse. Invalid clicks may include
the following:

- Manual clicks intended to increase your advertising costs
or to increase profits for website owners hosting your ads."

So Gastrich gets himself all excited over the receipt of a generically
worded comment on the issue. For all we know, these kinds of comments
were included in the original agreement, or Gastrich filed some sort of
complaint and got a generic response with a little additional content,
as noted below:

Reportedly, from August 5 to August 28, this advertisement
has received 173 invalid clicks.

For someone who presumes himself an expert at web hosting and
networking, Gastrich seems woefully uninformed about analytics and web
hit analysis. Gastrich advertises on Google, the most frequently used
web search engine in the world. Hundreds of millions of people access
Google and, against that 173 "invalid clicks" over just a little more
than three weeks is insignificant, especially when due consideration is
given for the many kinds of malware and phishing mechanisms that are
used to try to collect web site and email addresses. I could also
point out how easy it is to actually get around the sort of mechanisms
that Google has in place, were someone actually willing to do that.
The fact is that Gastrich, as usual, has nothing, he's exposed nothing,
and all he's done is make a fool of himself...again.

Fortunately, for this dedicated, Christian ministry, Google is
on top of things.

JCSM is a mechanism by which Gastrich tries to promote himself and make
money off of the Christians foolish enough to believe him. He uses
several underhanded mechanisms and engages in unChristian behavior as a
matter of course. The only "dedication" that may be found at JCSM is
to the further glorification of Jason Gastrich. He is not a Christian.
JCSM is not a "ministry." It's a sham.

They say, "Our system automatically identifies most clicks
generated by unethical users and automated robots, and filters
out these clicks before they ever reach your reports."

And this should impress us...why?

Wherever there is fraud and wherever charitable organizations
are persecuted, you'll find Maleboge.com!

Even this is a lie, since the only reason that "maleboge.com" exists is
to feed Gastrich's ego and his need for vengeance. The only real
"charity" that it feeds is his need for attention, and it's not even
very effective at *that*. Gastrich's antics in other venues get him a
lot more attention, and it's not the sort of attention that he
appreciates (though there are some who would argue that).

Horn . . . once again . . . exposed!

I'll wear a longer coat.
The only real expose is of Gastrich as a fraud.

I doubt there is anyone in the world interested in your personal feud.
Give us all, and your ego, a break, please, and just shut up about it.

It's personal for Gastrich...not for me. I'm keeping a promise.
You may be right, though...maybe nobody "in the world" cares. Maybe
somebody does. Neither of us knows.

Give us all, and your ego, a break, please, and just shut
up about it.

Or you could just skip the thread. One of the reasons I post the
subjects the way that I do is to provide those with no interest the
means to disregard the commentary.
