Object: God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Cor.1:9
in this verse of Scripture the Apostle states that the calling of
God's children is based on the faithfulness of God... for the Apostle
does not say " you are faithful. "
the affections of man are whimsical and change by the minute.
because of the faithfulness of God, who changes not, His children
are called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ and " the gifts
and the calling of God are irrevocable. " Ro.11:29
this means that faith is neither generated by man and since its
source is unchangeable God, His children will forever be the objects
of His saving love.
none of His children will ever fail to receive His promise of
eternal life because none can ever be snatched out of the Father's
hand. Joh. 10:29 they are eternally secure in God who is faithful.
on a number of occasions Jesus uses the term " your faith has made
you well " ( Mt. 9:22 for example ) and " your faith has saved you. "
( Lk.7:50 )
the faith which comes from God is given to man as the objects of His
love and grace, being irrevocable, is always to be understood in
verses such as these that the faith that makes well comes from God and
is an free gift and an eternal possession of the believer.
the faith that flows from the saving love of God is not assent.
assent is mere agreement with facts.
genuine faith, from the start, agrees with Holy Scripture, that man
is all together passive in God work of saving sinners... receiving Him
is not by the will of man. Joh. 1:13 genuine faith produces humility
and thankfulness in the recipient for the work done in his heart by
God.
his ' faith ' did not move him to do the good work of ' making a
decision for Christ ' because that is assent. "salvation is of the
Lord. " Ps. 3:8 man does not muster up faith or cause it to be given
by God simply because in his mighty free will he wants it.
man does not seek for God... his mouth is an open grave
( Ro. 3:10-18 ) there's not a pure though in his mind nor pure word in
his mouth comfortable in God's ears which will ever move God to elect
him.
the position of modern Evangelicalism is based on man as the cause
of his salvation. in their view, man is of pure motives and his mouth
is not an open grave. he not only seeks for God but finds him and
elects himself to salvation by accepting Jesus as his Lord and Savior.
this fancy idea spurns the very Savior they pretend to worship.
they've assented to eternal life but have not faith to believe unto
eternal life.
" and as many as had been appointed to eternal life, believed. "
Acts 13:48
that verse gives God the glory. ' I accepted Jesus ' gives man the
glory.
the faith that comes from God agrees with Holy Scripture when it
speaks to the origin of salvation. non-faith, assent, immediately
seeks it's own glory as to the origin of salvation.

The doctrine of "eternal security" is dangerous nonsense.
First, salvation is only for those who keep the commandments:
Matthew 19:17
17 ... if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
Revelation 22:14
14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may
have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the
gates into the city.
Second, after being converted, and after having repented of our sins,
we are required to remain faithful and obedient to God, UNTO THE END:
Matthew 10:22
22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but
he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
Matthew 24:13
13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be
saved.
Revelation 2:26
26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the
end, to him will I give power over the nations:
Third, it is true that Satan cannot "pluck" or "snatch" God's people
out of his hand:
John 10:27-29
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow
me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never
perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and
no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
In other words, there is no reason for faithful keepers of the Ten
Commandments to fear that they will awaken one day to discover that
overnight Satan has "snatched" them.
However, those who cannot be plucked out of Jesus' hand are the
"sheep", namely those who readily obey and follow. This is in
contrast to "goats", who are rebellious and disobedient. The "goats"
can wander off of their own free accord, as much other scripture also
clearly says.
For example, Satan did not "snatch" Adam and Eve out of the garden of
Eden. They were "tempted" out. In the same way, those who think that
they are "saved" can be "tempted" out of their salvation:
Psalms 85:8
8 I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will
speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them
not turn again to folly.
Ezekiel 18:24
24 But when the righteous turneth away from his
righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according
to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he
live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be
mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in
his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.
Luke 9:62
62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to
the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
2 Corinthians 11:3
3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled
Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted
from the simplicity that is in Christ.
Hebrews 6:4-6
4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened,
and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made
partakers of the Holy Ghost,
5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of
the world to come,
6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto
repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God
afresh, and put him to an open shame.
Hebrews 10:26-29
26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the
knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice
for sins,
27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery
indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two
or three witnesses:
29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be
thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God,
and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was
sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the
Spirit of grace?
2 Peter 2:20-22
20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the
world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus
Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the
latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
21 For it had been better for them not to have known the
way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to
turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
22 But it is happened unto them according to the true
proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the
sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
Revelation 2:4-5
4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou
hast left thy first love.
5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and
repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto
thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his
place, except thou repent.
Revelation 3:4-5
4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not
defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in
white: for they are worthy.
5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white
raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of
life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and
before his angels.
The fact that a name, once written into the Book of Life, can be later
blotted out, ought to settle this issue without leaving any room for
further debate.

Although Jesus told people that they were healed by their "faith", he
also made it perfectly plain that if they wanted to REMAIN healed that
they were required to QUIT sinning:
Matthew 12:43-45
43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh
through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I
came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept,
and garnished.
45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other
spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and
dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than
the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked
generation.
John 5:14
14 ... Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a
worse thing come unto thee.
John 8:11
11 ... go, and sin no more.
Jesus and his disciples taught that people should REPENT of their
sins:
Mark 6:12
12 And they went out, and preached that men should repent.
Luke 13:3
3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all
likewise perish.
Acts 2:38
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, ...
Acts 3:19
19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins
may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come
from the presence of the Lord;
2 Timothy 2:19
19 ... Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart
from iniquity.
But what we have today are so-called "ministers" who are teaching that
repentance is not necessary, but only "faith". What foolishness.

Jesus taught that it was necessary to keep the commandments to be
given the gift of eternal life:
Matthew 5:20
20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall
exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye
shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 7:21
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall
enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will
of my Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 19:17-19
17 ... if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
18 ... Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit
adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false
witness,
19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love
thy neighbour as thyself.
Those who have true "faith" in Jesus Christ are required to actually
DO the things that he taught:
Matthew 7:26
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and
doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which
built his house upon the sand:
Luke 6:46
46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things
which I say?
Luke 8:21
21 And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my
brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.
John 8:51
51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying,
he shall never see death.
John 12:48
48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath
one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same
shall judge him in the last day.
John 14:23-24
23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he
will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will
come unto him, and make our abode with him.
24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the
word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent
me.
John in one of his epistles also makes it perfectly plain that those
who do not keep the commandments, but who claim to love God, are
liars:
1 John 2:3-4,7
3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his
commandments.
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his
commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
...
7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old
commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old
commandment is the word which ye have heard from the
beginning.
1 John 5:2-3
2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we
love God, and keep his commandments.
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his
commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
Moreover, John was referring to keeping the original Ten Commandments,
not some new commandments, or anything of that sort, because he
clarified that he was referring to the "old commandment which ye had
from the beginning". The Gentile converts might not have understood
this, but the Jewish converts, those who had been drilled in the Ten
Commandments since their infancy, had no difficulty with it.
