Help pray Jason or anyone please I beg you.. |
My Dr. Barth Campbell friend has slipped into some serious cancer and
has only days to live (or perhaps he may already be dead and I just have
not heard of it). I do hope that he lives as he was my adviser and a
dear friend.
Can you pray really hard for him? I really do love that man and really
do hope that he gets healed by God. The cancer is really bad and is in
his brain and all over his body.
He is saved and knows were he is going PRAISE GOD!!!

Jerry,
That was cold hearted, even for you. It's not cool to jump on someone
who is concerned about the potential loss of a friend.
John,
I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I realize that the following
verse is speaking about confession of faults; but the principal in the
second part of the verse applies to situations like the one you are
facing.
James 5:16
Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that
ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man
availeth much.
A dear friend of mine was given days to live due to cancer of the
pancreas. They took him to Duke University Hospital in North Carolina
where he was told they could do nothing because he was too under
weight. But, a doctor friend found an experimental program down in
Mississippi where they could freeze the cancers off. So far it
appears that the alternative worked better than what was expected from
the standard treatment that he would have received at Duke.
John, we don't have to beg God or each other for prayer. Prayer is
not jack hammering home a communciation to God. All prayer needs to
be is honest communcation between a child of God and his Father. If I
were in your shoes, I would simply thank God in the name of Jesus
Christ for bring the man back to health.
The problem we run into, though, is that we can not override a
person's free will. In cases like these where there is a lot of
suffering, some choose to let go of life rather than to deal with the
suffering.
I have prayed for your friend.

We like people to live longer with us because we miss them when they go,
that's why, Jerry.
I think it's perfectly natural and understandable.
Lord God, I would lift up before Thee Thy servant Barth Campbell, have mercy
upon him, and may it please Thee to enable him to be relieved in his present
suffering and pain. May his friends and family have the joy of his presence
for as long as thou wilt allow. I thank Thee for Barth and his confession of
faith, and for the blessing he has been to those who know him. This has been
a gift from Thee. Give him and his loved ones, I pray, a clear sense of Thy
wisdom and the presence of Thy Son through the Holy Spirit at this difficult
time. If it be Thy will to heal him because of the prayers of Thy people,
then I would that Thou wilt do so, to Thy glory and to Thy praise.
I ask this in Jesus' Name, Amen.

The statement was never meant to be cold hearted, but to be honest with
you, I've never understood the way Christians grieve for the departed.
If they believe the soul to be immortal, and that the person they loved
has gone to a better place, I don't understand the contradiction of
grief for the person.
In this case, as John stated, Dr. Campbell is saved and "knows where he
is going," so I would assume that if Dr. Campbell is ill, and leaving
this shell for a better world would be an improvement, it makes no
sense to me to prolong his pain in this world.
