FATHERLY LOVE ?
How to be free of the curse.
To Read: Ezekiel 25-27
To Know:
"O righteous Father, the world has not known thee, but I have known thee;
and these know that thou hast sent me." (Jn. 17:25)
The World Series champs are crowned and they are not the Boston Red Sox, but
wait until next year. These words have comforted Sox fans since 1918. 1918
was the last time our team brought the World Series Championship back to
Boston. Are the Red Sox cursed? Many absolutely believe in the "Curse of
the Bambino." They believe that our Sox are doomed before they start the
season.
George Herman Ruth began his career with the Boston Red Sox in 1914. Harry
Frazee, a heavy drinking Broadway producer, bought the team in 1917. In
1920, to raise money for his shows, he sold Ruth to New York for
$125,000.00. The Sox won 5 of the 15 World Series. It was a quarter century
after Ruth's departure before they played in another. It has been 85 years
since the team has won one.
Ruth won the nickname "baby," which soon became "babe," which explains why
the curse is called, the "Curse of the Bambino." Frazee sold the greatest
home run hitter in order to purchase No, No Nanette. Even heaven was
presumed to be offended.
To Do:
Whatever is the truth regarding the Boston Red Sox, it is a fact of life
that everyone born of Adam arrives in this world cursed. That is, all except
one -- Jesus Christ. He was born blessed of God. His virgin conception
brought a man to earth that was not the offspring of Adam. Jesus Christ was
born of God. The image of God in him made the heavenly Father visible. Jesus
said, "O righteous Father, the world has not known thee, but I have known
thee; and these know that thou hast sent me." (Jn. 17:25) Also he said, "He
who has seen me has seen the Father; ." (Jn. 14:9) Whoever has faith in
Christ is set free from the curse that will one day doom Adam's race
