'Is Bush the Antichrist?'
Posted on Friday, December 10 @ 10:14:59 EST

The Christian right and the Christian left are engaged in a debate
over who 'owns' Jesus—and whether Dubya is a force for good or evil.
By Tim Appelo, Seattle Weekly
When President George W. Bush was appointed by five Supreme Court
justices in 2000, right-wing Christians sang hosannas for the triumph
of God's will over the electorate's. "President Bush is God's man at
this hour," said Tim Goeglein, Bush's liaison to evangelicals. Though
the Methodist president dishonestly conceals the whole truth about his
apocalyptic religious beliefs, he has acted as an evangelist in
office.
As Esther Kaplan demonstrates in With God on Their Side: How Christian
Fundamentalists Trampled Science, Policy, and Democracy in George W.
Bush's White House, he's doled out millions to far-right Christian
groups, systematically crushed secular left and nonright mainstream
organizations from Head Start to the Audubon Society, and replaced
policy and scientific experts with comically ignorant yet politically
cunning fanatic provocateurs. Out with the American Medical
Association, in with the American Family Association. Before Bush, the
Internal Revenue Service hounded the Christian Coalition; now that
Bush is, in extremist Gary Bauer's opinion, the de facto leader of the
Christian Coalition, the government selectively harasses non-Christian
groups, and a rightist apparatchik tried to sneak through Congress a
bill legitimizing the kinds of politically targeted IRS abuses that
would have made Richard M. Nixon proud.

The Christian right and the Christian left are engaged in a debate
over who 'owns' Jesus-and whether Dubya is a force for good or evil.
The man they will dub the 'Anti-Christ' is a geneticist currently working in
an obscure little lab in Barcelona. His work is for one purpose, and that to
discover the aging gene, and how to turn it off.
When he has accomplished his task, and developed the gene therapy that all
people might have a chance at immortality -- the Fundies will cite Genesis
and say this is an abomination.
Gn:6:3: And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for
that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
Death was personally appointed by the good Lord (the all wise and knowing
one) that man should die, and who is man to question, or worse, play God?

Call me when the work is done. I'll let you know then what I think about
it.

The Fundies will be the first in line to receive such a therapy. That's why
they cling so desperately to religion... it's their hope that it's a way out
of that horrible reality called death. It isn't that hard to imagine -- just
tell us what it was like before you were conceived. That's how frightening
death is (unless you believe in reincarnation).
This too was promised in Genesis:
Gn:3:16: Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy
conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall
be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. (KJV)
And yet as I lay in the delivery room with my first child, I was given an
epideral and laughing about it -- moments before delivery. Of course the
Fundies would say this epideral which medical science created was God's gift
to women through modern medicine. What Woolsey Teller correctly called
"Chameleonic Christianity", bedecking itself in stolen plummage.
Fundies' big threat to non-believers is always about "after you die zis an
zis" -- what if a geneticist discovers the aging gene and stops aging all
together, that a man or woman could live potentially as an immortal? Will
the Fundies say that too was God's gift to man. They will if science
discovers the way to do it. Glory to God for everything science has done,
and then turn around and call the scientists liars when it was men like
Darwin who gave them the courage to go forward and seek and discover those
things that the Church said "no no" to. (Like stem cell research, etc etc
etc.)

Is Bush the anti-Christ?
If 9/11, and everthing which has ensued in it's wake was all an inside
job and a lie, then he'd sure make a fine candidate.
The city surrounded by many waters, center of trade, fireball,
horrified mourning world, ***** of babylon.
If he totally recovered from this recent "wound" and if the head heals
up nicely, then well, what more is there to say?

You forgot the part about the city on a hill.

will write him letters of apology for spreading that false
rumor, when he is out of office?

Under such circumstances I am sure we would all be delighted to!
Why wait till Monday when he could pack his bags and go now.
Put your fist in a bucket of water
Pull it out - the hole thats left is exactly how much we would all miss him.
Anyway - a message from Australia...
"Sorry we called you the AntiChrist Georgey - now ***** off and leave us in
peace"
