Object: Is this irrisponsible of me?
I am 35 and have two children and a wife. One child is 2 and the other
is seven. Because of the high price of gas and just for the fun of it
I am thinking of getting a motorcycle. I have prayed about it. I asked
one preacher on line and he mentioned someone in his congregation just
recently was almost killed on one. I asked God to take away my desire
for onne if he did not want me to have one. I still want one however.
What should I do?

First of all, every single person I personally knew that had a
motorcycle eventually stopped because of injury and in one case death. A
fender-bender in a car, which is a common occurrence, can easily be a
crippling thing on a motorcycle.
Since you have more than yourself to think about, I think the
choice is clear it's not in the best interest of your wife and your two kids
(not to mention yourself) that you put your life at such a heavy risk.
Finally, as the other poster mentioned, I would switch up the
way you make that request to God. I think you'd agree that there's no reason
to even wonder if God would *want* you to ride a motorcycle in your
situation. Instead pray to God to ask Him to help you find a way to pay the
increasing cost of gasoline.
God Bless!

Never pray, "God, if you don't want me to have one,
then YOU HAVE TO" do such and such.
You may not have worded it that way, but that's how
it sounded to me, reading it.

Expand and go out into the ocean of your faith.
God doesn't do His deepest work in the shallowest
part of the water.
The world says that seeing is believing.
The Bible says that believing is seeing.
Doctrine is not Scripture.

well, a co-workers brother-in-law was killed on one 2 weeks ago when
an automobile driver made a turn in front of him from the opposite
lane.
another co-worker ( a woman ) has been a biker for 20 years with no
accidents.
i've heard from a nurse friend of mine of numerous deaths while
bikers are hitting deer and small animals shooting out onto the
roadway.
i drove one once in my whole life and didn't pursue it any futher
tho i always thought about getting one.
i would say that a motor bike is the least survivable vehicle on the
road since there is absolutely no protection to the driver... and,
driving it depends solely on the operator... in other words, a fellow
doesnt need any skill to keep a car on the road but a biker must be of
such dexterity that all his wits must be involved and alert to avoid
apparent unexpected mishaps.
it doesnt sound to me that you're concerned about the price of gas.
you want a bike for the fun of it. your wife will be stressed out
pretty bad if you get one, do you want that ? suppose she got one,
would you let her ? would you be stressed out ?
