Object: Jesus was indeed...
Jesus was, indeed, according to Cayce, "distinguished for learning," an
"authoritative teacher of the Law," and also a Master of the teachings of the
East. He had already attained to a thorough knowledge of the Jewish law through
his studies at home before his twelfth year.
"After the period of presentation again at the temple, when there were those
questionings among the groups of the leaders," Cayce says, Jesus left the
household of Joseph and Mary, and was in the care and ministry of the priests
and leaders of the Brotherhood.
From his twelfth to his fifteenth or sixteenth year he was taught the
prophecies by Judy in her home at Carmel. Then began his education abroad. He
was sent first again, into Egypt for only a short period, then into India for
three years, then into that later called Persia-one year in travel and in
Persia. From Persia he was called to Judea at the death of Joseph, then went
into Egypt for the completion of his preparation as a teacher.
"In the studies that were a portion of the preparation," Cayce said, "these
included first those that were the foundations of that given as law. Hence from
law in the Great Initiate must come love, mercy, peace, that there may be the
fulfilling wholly of that purpose to which he was called."
The teachings he received in India were of "those cleansings of the body as
related to preparation for strength in the physical as well as the mental man.
In the travels and in Persia, the union of forces as related to those teachings
of Zu and Ra. In Egypt, that which had been the basis of all the teachings in
the temple, and the after-actions of the crucifying of self in relationships to
ideals that made for the abilities of carrying on that called to be done.
Hence, in all the ways of the teachers was Jesus trained." In all his studies,
Cayce said, he was registered under the name of Jeshua. This name and its
variant, Joshua, of which the Greek form is Jesus, are contractions of
Jehoshua, meaning Help of Jehovah, or Savior.
John, the messenger, the forerunner, was with Jesus during a portion of the
period spent in Egypt, though John was in one class, Jesus in another. For
while Jesus was in India, John, at the age of seventeen, had gone into Egypt
for the dedication and preparation there.
Jesus and John were in Heliopolis "for the periods of attaining to the
priesthood, or the taking of examinations, passing the tests there.
These, as they have been since their establishing, were tests through which one
attained to that place of being accepted or rejected by the influences of the
mystics, as well as of the various groups or schools in other lands. For…the
unifying of the teachings of many lands was brought together in Egypt, for that
was the center from which there was to be the radial activity of influence in
the earth, as indicated by the first establishing of those tests, or the
recording of time as it has been was, and is to be, until the new cycle is
begun."
The ancient city of Heliopolis, according to the New Standard Encyclopedia, was
a center of learning long before the establishment of Alexandria. It was
especially notable for its schools of astronomy and philosophy, but it declined
after the founding of Alexandria. It was located about six miles northeast of
modern Cairo, not far from the Great Pyramid of Gizeh.
The Great Pyramid was built, Cayce says, "to be the Hall of the Initiates of
that sometimes referred to as the Brotherhood. In that same pyramid did the
Great Initiate, the Master, take those last of the Brotherhood degrees with
John, the forerunner of him at that place."
A portion of the initiation there-referred to in the Gospel as three days and
nights in the tomb-"is a part of the passage through that to which each soul is
to attain in its development." For each soul, each individual as an initiate
must pass through those same stages in its development as those through which
the earth itself, or the peoples of the earth as a whole must pass-and this is
shown or indicated in the passage through the pyramid, ending in the chamber in
which stands an empty tomb.
"All changes that came in the religious thought in the world are shown there,
in the variations in which the passage through same is reached, from the base
to the top-or to the open tomb and the top. These are signified by both the
layer and the color in what direction the turn is made."
Through these stages the Master passed in his initiation, coming at last to
that of the overcoming of death, or the breaking of the tomb, the releasing of
the soul from its bondage to the material world and death-thus the empty tomb.
"And there, as the initiate, he went out for the passing through the initiation
by fulfilling that as indicated in the baptism in the Jordan, as he passed from
that activity into the wilderness to meet that which had been his undoing in
the beginning."

It might help to quote the reading numbers so that people could make a
