Norman, I offer you two articles that may help you.
http://www.nettally.com/saints/bible03.txt
http://www.nettally.com/saints/biblecri.txt
I hope the info in those articles helps.
Personally, I use different translations of the Holy Bible in order to
get the clearest and most throrough understanding (along with the Holy
Spirit of course). I tend to use the NIV and KJV primarily but also
have copies of the ASV, NASB, NKJV, YLT and others in both hard copy
and electronic form. Specifically, I find having the KJV Study Bible
and the NIV Study Bible onhand helps me quite well.
May God bless,
Carl

Would you mind emailing me at ???
We can discuss it more in depth without people jumping in
with insults, etc., which is what will happen here in usenet
and there are a few very important factors involved in
answering your question.
If you don't mind doing that, then please feel free to email
me, as this is, as I can tell you know, one of the most
important questions you could ever ask, amen? :)

Norman, I recommend not emailing Dave Raymond since he is a false
teacher and not a true, legitimate pastor. He is untrustworthy,
deceitful and prone to using profanity, insults and vitriolic
language. Please do a Usenet Google search on "Pastor Dave" and you
will see documented evidence of his ungodly behavior.
1 Tim 3:2-3
Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife,
temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,
not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not
a lover of money. (NIV)
A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant,
sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not
given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient,
not a brawler, not covetous; (KJV)
it behoveth, therefore, the overseer to be blameless, of one wife a
husband, vigilant, sober, decent, a friend of strangers, apt to teach,
not given to wine, not a striker, not given to filthy lucre, but
gentle, not contentious, not a lover of money, (YLT)
Titus 1:6-8
An elder must be blameless, the husband of but one wife, a man whose
children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and
disobedient. Since an overseer is entrusted with God's work, he must
be blameless - not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to
drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. Rather he must
be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled,
upright, holy and disciplined. (NIV)
If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children
not accused of riot or unruly. For a bishop must be blameless, as the
steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no
striker, not given to filthy lucre; But a lover of hospitality, a
lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate; (KJV)
if any one is blameless, of one wife a husband, having children
stedfast, not under accusation of riotous living or insubordinate -
for it behoveth the overseer to be blameless, as God's steward, not
self-pleased, nor irascible, not given to wine, not a striker, not
given to filthy lucre; but a lover of strangers, a lover of good men,
sober-minded, righteous, kind, self-controlled, (YLT)
Norman, take at look at the qualifications set out by God Himself and
take note of how many of them Dave Raymond violates. It is numerous
enough that he disqualifies himself from any leadership position in
any Christian church. According to God's standards as set out the
verses I cited above, Dave Raymond is not a legitimate "Pastor" nor
qualified to be a leader in any Christian church. Norman, I pray that
you will ask the Holy Spirit for guidance in this matter and I also
hope you will avoid Dave Raymond in the future for he is a proven
false teacher who will attempt to lead you astray.
May God bless,
Carl

For the most accurate English translation, I would go with the
King James version.
Also, I would recommend you also avoid conversing with "Pastor
Dave" - as he has told some of the most angry, hateful, obscene,
vicious, threatening vulgarity I've ever seen, against anyone
that dares to point out how the many things he believes are not
biblical. There is no way he is a pastor of any kind.
He also believes Christ has already returned, which would mean
believers have already been raptured into heaven and that we've
all been left behind.
Anyway, if you have any questions, feel free to ask people here!
But take each answer (including mine) with a grain of salt. Trust
the Bible first and foremost.
