Patriarchy, Matriarchy, Religion and Government |
Patriarchy, Matriarchy, Religion and Government.
A rough transcript of a discussion with Russell Means from
the www.mysteriesofthemind.com audio archives.
Host: Alex Merklinger.
If you go back in history and follow the events, you can clearly see
what the patriarchal society in man's history has done. It has virtually
destroyed the world. The constant waring, the deceit, the cheating, the
lying, the killing.
Firstly, what is the difference between a patriarchal society and a
matriarchal society?
The patriarchal society is a fear based society. It's entire mode of
operation is fear. It's religions are full of fear, it's governments are
full of fear; every aspect of the society uses some kind of fear. George
Washington put it succinctly when he said this: (paraphrased) "Government is
force; nothing more, nothing less". He was right because you cannot name
anything that government does that is not force.
What you have in patriarchy is an unbalanced society.
It's patriarchs are men, running around like chickens with their heads cut
off.
And then one of them, who has only a half severed head, decides to take
charge. In the case of the United States you have a bunch of half severed
heads, with the head of this chicken (the president) at the leadership
position (according to Paul O'Neil); the modern day government is basically
a blind man leading a bunch of deaf people.
The patriarchal societies are all about force. What is government if it
isn't force?
So you create a society based on this principle.
If you go back in history, there's only been a little over six thousand
years of patriarchy. Over six thousand years ago, patriarchy reared its ugly
head in the area where everybody is fighting everybody, the Middle East.
Co-incidentally, that's also when history began. You have the patriarchs
back then running around willy nilly, not knowing what to do, because they
weren't balanced. And that's the main difference between a patriarchal
society and a matriarchal society.
The history of matriarchy is that we were always, all of us, matriarchal for
millions of years before patriarchy began. So how and why did it begin? Who
can know.
There was probably a village idiot who got tired of being shunned, so he
walked out into the desert, came back and said to the people "Do I have a
vision for you folks". And the people stood there and listened to this
village idiot. He was probably a schizophrenic. It was probably one of
the first cases of schizophrenia.
Matriarchy existed for millions of years.
Matriarchy is based on the women taking care of the family issues.
Europe was all matriarchal until Rome, under Constantine went Christian.
In the third century they started advancing through Europe.
Along comes the Roman legions with their new found Catholic priests, and the
Catholic priests would gather the men during that time and say, those are
witches over there. They've got you guys bowled over. You're supposed to be
in charge. That's what God says. The women are there to serve you.
And that's how they eradicated the power of the women and
matriarchy from Europe. It was the holy Roman empire.
The holy Roman empire lasted for centuries.
That's just a short explanation of how the world became dominated by
patriarchy, and we know here in the west that it was through the holy Roman
empire.
It mostly started at the time when the tilling of the soil began;
Agriculture. Agriculture led to surpluses, and that led to what to do with
the surpluses.
Men of course wanted to take charge of these surpluses and that of course
led to a bit of greed, which in turn led to a bit more greed.
It only started with a few men, but it grew, and it only takes less than 2%
of any population to start a revolution.
In more modern times, patriarchy has almost constantly fought a continuing
war against matriarchal peoples around the world.
The patriarchal Christian movement has forced its way into all the
matriarchal indigenous cultures around the world, assimilating and forcing
their patriarchal laws onto them.
It has happened with all the Islands of the Pacific, all up and down the
western hemisphere. Africa, the Middle East and Asia. The thing with
Patriarchy is that every regime, every empire, from Ming Dynasty to Kublai
Khan, to Egypt, to Mesopotamia, to Grease, to Rome, to the British Empire,
to the Soviet Union and the United States of America. Every empire has
destroyed itself from within. It has always imploded. And that is
patriarchy. And they make the same mistakes over and over and over again.
And they are the ones who write our history, but then that's probably why
they call it his-story. It's just his story. And what it does of course is
give us our patriarchal heroes, which is more often than not far from the
truth. So we have patriarchy, making mistakes over and over and over, and we
have over six thousand years of documented history showing that men are
incapable of leadership. And it's all documented for crying out loud.
The question now is what would the difference be in a matriarchal society.
How would it be so totally different than a patriarchal society? But also
keep in mind that a matriarchal society does not mean that women would be
ruling society as men rule it today. It would be a different society, and
that is what patriarchs fear. They fear losing their control. Now what's the
first thing that happens when you fear something? Someone once said "If you
don't know the forest, you will come to fear the forest, and what you fear
you will want to destroy". So if you don't know the people, you will fear
the people. So what's the first thing the patriarchs feared when they took
power? It was something that was unknown. It was women! No man has ever
figured out a women.
Matriarchy is where women are believed to take power,
and this is what the patriarch fears. But matriarchy is a balanced society
which is
structured so you will not harm anyone's feelings, both emotional and
physical; you will not harm any individual, and that goes for everything,
trees,... all living things. The matriarchs built societal structures. The
female and the male celebrated their differences; they celebrated their
strengths; not their weaknesses like patriarchs do.
Patriarchs are always pointing out their and other's weaknesses, that's out
of fear.
You should celebrate your strengths. That engenders mutual respect. If
you're
both celebrating what beautiful people you are, it turns everything into the
positive. This is matriarchy.

History books that contain no lies are extremely dull. The christian bible
is a very interesting book indeed.
