Polytheism... worshiping many gods... Virgin Mary; St.Thomas Cantelupe; St.Therese; St. Bavo... Ad Infinitum |
"You shall have no other gods before Me.
You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of
anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or
that is in the water under the earth;
you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your
God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the
children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me... "
Ex. 20:3-5
the excuse taken from a Catholic site pertaining to the worship of
' saints '...
" Seeing a statue of Saint Therese of Lisieux who lost her mother
when she was a child might make us feel less alone when we are
grieving. A picture of Saint Francis of Assisi might remind us of how
much he loved God's creation and make us more aware of our
environment. "
an enthusiastic rebellion against Gods first commandent.
these ' saints ' are there ' in heaven ' interceeding for the person
on earth they say:
" Since saints led holy lives and are close to God in heaven, we feel
that their prayers are particularly effective. Often we ask particular
saints to pray for us if we feel they have a particular interest in
our problem. "
this is bowing down to them and serving them... to prostrate oneself
in prayer to them and having an image of them to focus ones attention
on.
while there is " one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man
Christ Jesus, " 1 Tim. 2:5
" Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is
also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes
intercession for us." Ro. 8:34
polytheists have as many gods as they can imagine. all is these gods
are for the single purpose of helping the one praying to the god and
never for any other than for the benefit of self...
from a RC website they've posted this information...
" There are over 10,000 named saints and beati from history, the Roman
Martyology and Orthodox sources, but no definitive "head count".
" By the year 100 A.D., Christians were honoring other Christians who
had died, and asking for their intercession. "
as already stated, the purpose of polytheism is to get intercession
from the gods, never Jesus Christ, and for completely selfish
reasons...
" Often we ask particular saints to pray for us if we feel they have a
particular interest in our problem "
such is polytheism.
