Sure. The desire to oppress women, and to make them produce more

What about condoms? Are they poison?

Fair enough.

Sure. The desire to oppress women, and to make them produce more
Catholics.

Um. This sounds a bit like saying the Catholics must be wrong because
they oppress women, and we know they oppress women because they are
Catholics.
Catholic thinking is very well thought out.

I'm not sure about it.

You've not heard them either, then? Me neither. And we're both
intelligent people. I'm just wondering why it's being kept quiet.

: This leads me to suspect the topic will not survive rational argument.

I doubt it...

Dunno. I'm told they taste funny.
I have no idea what the thinking is here. As I said, I have some
inklings about the pill.

Also, the way you're attempting to defend RCC opposition to contraception
as "defence of women's rights" seems somewhat facetious to me...

Well, I didn't intend to give any such impression. Perhaps we're both
too accustomed to thinking on this as we're told to think. A lot of
people go around telling us they are 'tolerant' and anyone who
disagrees with them is 'intolerant'. Rather than accepting labels, we
need to think about the issues (to you of all people, I know, this is
not news, but point this idea in this direction too and see what comes
out).
What I am doing is taking up the drains and looking, not at the issue
as we are told to look at it, but as it really is -- what is *really*
involved, who really wants this or that, what people really want.
You've done the same yourself on many issues, Yuri, so do consider the
possibility we're all being stuffed here. I should add that as a
Christian bachelor, the issue for me is entirely theoretical. But I
am uncomfortable with the lack of debate on something that affects 50%
of the population in the West in a way liable to cause misery.
Particularly when I can see some serious grounds for concern.
All the best,
Roger Pearse
