Hey "Warlord" Steve,
I think Grinder's on your side. I know it's common to for you to treat
Christians with disrespect, but this is a new one.
Why does atheist Doug Krueger spend most of his book (called "Atheism: An
Introduction") addressing the Bible? Why does atheist Dan Barker write a
book called Losing Faith in Faith and do the same?
I suppose if atheists would stop talking about the scriptures, then you'd
have a case. However, as it stands, the Bible is a very important issue to
atheists. Just look at Grinder and his message, for instance. If the Bible
is not important to you, then you are in the minority (again).

Jason

Hey "Warlord" Steve,
I think Grinder's on your side. I know it's common to for you to
treat
Christians with disrespect, but this is a new one.
Well, not really, Jason.
It isn't uncommon for atheists to act in every bit as much a knee-jerk
reaction as a Christian.
All parties are human, after all.
Why does atheist Doug Krueger spend most of his book (called
"Atheism: An
Introduction") addressing the Bible? Why does atheist Dan Barker
write a
book called Losing Faith in Faith and do the same?
And why, when you presumed to INTERVIEW and "debtate" Dan Barker, did
you not read his book in preparation, as any competent interviewer
would have done?
I suppose if atheists would stop talking about the scriptures, then
you'd
have a case. However, as it stands, the Bible is a very important
issue to
atheists.
Are you presuming to speak for atheists now, Jason?
Just look at Grinder and his message, for instance. If the Bible
is not important to you, then you are in the minority (again).
I suspect you are being presumptuous yet again, Jason.
That SOME atheists take an interest in the Bible is hardly evidence
that ALL do, or even that MOST do.
alt.atheism, as busy as it can get, represents only the opinions of the
individual writers, not the opinions or interests of ALL atheists.
That SOME atheists write about the Bible and their experiences with it
and views with respect to it does not indicate that it carries any
importance at all to ALL atheists.
I would ask how you came to such a simplistic, stupid conclusion, but
knowing your "thinking" processes as I do, it's simple enough to
divine, and questions I know the answer to are questions I don't need
to ask.

Thanks for your message, Steve.
Don't forget that Christians believe that they too are immoral and deserving
of eternal torture. The only thing that separates us is the fact that we
have humbled ourselves and admitted this to God and to the world.

I'm sorry Jason. I shouldn't have implied that you are proud and
arrogant. I must have confused you with that guy that constantly
touts his sham doctorate, that is always bragging about how many
web pages he has, that shows his piety, in violation of Jesus's
command, by praying for people who don't want or need to be
prayed for, who thinks he's more of an expert wrt evolution than

who posts examples of his vocal talent to his web site that would

No, Jason, the "bottom line" is that you are a bottom-feeder, to use
your recent words, with respect to the human race.
You want the rest of us to join you.
And it galls you that we won't do that.
I think that's more accurate. Don't you?

Tips for dealing with the unchurched online:
1) "Never let them see you bleed." (Q to James Bond ..)
2) Always stay on topic, and never talk about yourself
3) Attack; don't defend
4) Accept that the bad guys win once in awhile, and take consolation in the
fact that while any one skirmish might be lost, the ultimate outcome of the
war is never in doubt.
5) Know who you can talk to and who you can't. I have many in this
newsgroup in my killfile. Some are the most vile, contemptible and
disgusting human beings .. and I use that term in its loosest sense .. on
the planet.
6) Ask few questions and answer none. They're not interested in your answer
to any question they ask you; they've dismissed it a priori, and they're
just trying to make you jump through hoops for their own cheap laughs.
7) Be sure of what you believe, and what you know, and never wander outside
that area.
8) Respond to ideas, not to people. If you're going to get mad, remember
that revenge is a dish best served cold. Don't respond in the heat of
anger; that gives them an advantage.
9) Hit them with your best shot, and walk away. They never concede on any
point. You'll die an old man waiting for one of them to say, "you're
right." Make your best case, and be done.
10) Keep your personal life above reproach. If they can find something in
your past, or in your character, or in your values to use against you, they
will, and they will look strenuously for it.

Tips for dealing with the unchurched online:
This is an interesting list, George.
You've sent some comments to me and I responded, and never saw anything
further from you, so that's piqued my interest.
Let's go through it.
1) "Never let them see you bleed." (Q to James Bond ..)
What does this mean, George?
Never let them see that you're human, maybe?
2) Always stay on topic, and never talk about yourself
But whenever you talk about the things you believe and present them as
universal truth of any sort, you really ARE talking about yourself,
aren't you?
After all, you're presuming that your belief system applies to
everyone.
3) Attack; don't defend
You should make statements, but not defend them?
4) Accept that the bad guys win once in awhile, and take consolation
in the
fact that while any one skirmish might be lost, the ultimate outcome
of the
war is never in doubt.
Who are the "bad guys," George?
5) Know who you can talk to and who you can't. I have many in this
newsgroup in my killfile. Some are the most vile, contemptible and
disgusting human beings .. and I use that term in its loosest sense
... on
the planet.
Care to list them?
6) Ask few questions and answer none. They're not interested in your
answer
to any question they ask you; they've dismissed it a priori, and
they're
just trying to make you jump through hoops for their own cheap
laughs.
So, you have figured out how to distinguish that all who ask you
anything are not sincerely seeking to hear your answers?
How did you do that?
7) Be sure of what you believe, and what you know, and never wander
outside
that area.
Of course, those who disagree with you do not know what they believe?
8) Respond to ideas, not to people. If you're going to get mad,
remember
that revenge is a dish best served cold. Don't respond in the heat
of
anger; that gives them an advantage.
What does the Bible say about revenge, George?
9) Hit them with your best shot, and walk away. They never concede
on any
point. You'll die an old man waiting for one of them to say, "you're
right." Make your best case, and be done.
So this is all about you wanting to hear others tell you "you're
right?"
10) Keep your personal life above reproach. If they can find
something in
your past, or in your character, or in your values to use against
you, they
will, and they will look strenuously for it.
If your character and values contradict what you would require of
others and what you are claiming as a belief system, that's hypocrisy,
isn't it?

Well, there goes Jason. That's the only reason he posts to usenet.
4) Accept that the bad guys win once in awhile, and take consolation in the
fact that while any one skirmish might be lost, the ultimate outcome of the
war is never in doubt.
Especially if you're Christian - but no one's going to tell you what
the outcome is for Christians. You'll just have to suffer through it
for yourselves. (Hint - it *doesn't* involve gates, pearly or
otherwise.)
7) Be sure of what you believe, and what you know, and never wander outside
