Eric Brze said on Jan 4, 7:35 am PST [Re: Jesus
letting Himself be crucified]: It would be the
BEST example of faith one can ever know.

Yes; "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of
our faith, who for the joy that was set before him
endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set
down at the right hand of the throne of God"
(Heb. 12:2).

Eric said: The truth is always self evident.

The truth of the Bible is always self-evident to
those who are of God; "He that is of God heareth
God's words" (Jn. 8:47).

Eric said: I hope all can read the Bible with a
good spirit

Not all can; "Ye cannot hear my word. Ye are of
your father the devil" (Jn. 8:43b-44).

Bill M said on Jan 4, 8:42 am: The foundation
of all Christian religions are the Bibles

It should be; "If ye continue in my word, then are
ye my disciples indeed" (Jn. 8:31).

Bill said: The Bibles are a foundation of
quicksand.

No; but reading and not obeying the Bible is a
foundation of quicksand; "Every one that heareth
these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be
likened unto a foolish man, which built his house
upon the sand" (Mt. 7:26).

Bill said [Re: The Bible]: What are available are
altered copies of copies

There's no proof that we don't have faithful copies
of the original scriptures.

Bill said [Re: The Bible]: the so called originals
were supposedly written by 56 or more different
authors of unknown veracity.

The New Testament was written by the apostles who
heard Jesus and by those who heard the apostles;
"We have not followed cunningly devised fables, when
we made known unto you the power and coming of our
Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his
majesty" (2 Pet. 1:16).

Bill said: The bible is true because the Bible
says it is true!

There's no proof that the Bible isn't true.

Bill said: If Jesus was God, why did he not leave
behind an authentic record of his rules and
commands?

He did; "This is my commandment, That ye love one
another, as I have loved you" (Jn. 15:12).

Bill said: implausible Bible stories

"The things which are impossible with men are
possible with God" (Lk. 18:27).

Bill said: Is Jesus divine because of his miracles

No; He's divine because "the Word was God" (Jn. 1:1).

Bill said: We know from astronomical data that our
Sun and Moon is much older than the earth.

Which data is that?

Bill said: Biblically, God created the world about
six thousand years ago

The Bible doesn't say that.

Bill said [Re: The Bible]: the Earth is a fixed
(not to mention flat) Planet and the Sun, Moon
and other planets revolve around the earth.

The Bible doesn't say any of these things.

Bill said: In the Bible the earth is created in
the first day...

The Bible doesn't say that.

Bill said: ...before the Sun, Moon and Stars.

Could the stars of Gen. 1:16 be the 6,000 or so
stars visible to the naked eye? Is there proof that
they and the sun and moon are older than the earth?

Bill said: God created light before he created the
Sun and the Moon!

Is there proof that light didn't exist before the
sun and moon?

Bill said: this good and loving God created
animals that eat other animals

No; God created all animals herbivores (Gen. 1:30).

Bill said: Archaeological evidence shows that
animals evolved from primitive cells over a period
of about four billion years - not in one day!

Could any evolved animals have died off in some
cataclysm that make the earth "void"? (Gen. 1:2).

Bill said [Re: Gen. 2:2]: Why would a God that is
not physical but spiritual, get tired and need
rest?

It doesn't say God got tired; the Hebrew word for
"rested" can be translated simply as "ceased".

Bill said: why does he permit totally innocent
children to die at birth?

To keep some from a lifetime of suffering that would
be too much for them to handle?

Bill said: Or worse, be born lacking eyesight, a
fully developed brain, deaf and dumb, missing
limbs etc.?

Because some can handle such suffering without
losing faith in God?

Bill said: Why does this loving and caring god
create Plagues, Tsunamis, Tornadoes, Volcanic
Eruptions, Wars, cancers and hundreds of
debilitating diseases

Could most suffering be from Satan, and not from God?

Bill said [Re: God]: Why did he design humans to
suffer the decrepitude and malignancies of old
age?

He didn't. Adam was immortal before he sinned.

Bill said [Re: God]: he has no concern about the
welfare of the creatures on Earth

He does; "He sendeth the springs into the valleys,
which run among the hills. They give drink to every
beast of the field; the wild asses quench their
thirst. By them shall the fowls of the heaven have
their habitation, which sing among the branches. He
watereth the hills from his chambers; the earth is
satisfied with the fruit of thy works. He causeth
the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the
service of man; that he may bring forth food out of
the earth, and wine that maketh glad the heart of
man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread
which strengtheneth man's heart. The trees of the
LORD are full of sap, the cedars of Lebanon which
he hath planted, where the birds make their nests;
as for the stork, the fir trees are her house. The
high hills are a refuge for the wild goats, and the
rocks for the conies" (Ps. 104:10-18).

Bill said: In the Bible, there are two different
accounts of Adam and Eve's creation

Does Gen. 1:27 have to be about Adam & Eve?

Bill said: Why should BILLIONS of innocent people
be punished over thousands of years for this
original sin that they had no part in?

People are punished for their own sins.

Bill said [Re: Jonah]: He would have been digested
by the fish in those three days

What's the proof of that?

Bill said [Re: Sodom & Gomorrah]: There is no way
that EVERYONE in two cities could be so sinful,
especially innocent children, to deserve
destruction by fire and brimstone.

What if there were no innocent children in those
cities? (cf. Ps. 58:3).

No, I disagree. The truth of the Bible is always self-evident to those
who have found it. Those who can not and will not look for the truth
will have nothing regardless whether they are of God or not.

No, I disagree. The blatent contradictory and false nature of the Bible is
always evident to those who know simple logic. Those who cannot and will not
face those facts are not very intelligent.
Those who love God will keep His commandents. Here are some of those
commandments you must keep:
"And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast [it] from
thee...And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast [it]
from thee" (Matt 5:29-30)
"If any [man] come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and
children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be
my disciple" (Luk 14:26)
"Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn
not thou away" (Mat 5:42)
"They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall
not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover"
(Mark 16:18)
"Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is
a shame unto him?" (1Cr 11:14)
"We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not" (1Jo 5:18)
So let's see how many so-called Christians keep God's commandments:
1) Number of Xians missing a right eye or right hand? Zero
2) Number of Xians that hate their family and their life? Zero
3) Number of Xians that have given away their house, car, or paycheck? Zero
4) Number of Xians that have taken up serpents or poison and still lived to
tell about it? Zero.
5) Number of Xians that don't have short hair? A few.
6) Number of Xians that sinneth not? Zero.

There is nothing wrong to call a spade a spade, but it would be very
wrong to think it's nothing but a spade. If you do that, you are still
far away from the truth.
