First off, adults take responsibility for anything that happens
on their watch.
Remember back during the Reagan years, the last time the
economy did fairly well under a Republican?
According to the Republicans, it was all because of the Republican
President, Ronald Reagan.
It was only when things turned sour under Bush senior when
Republicans decided that the President had nothing to do with
the economy.
Whoops, that's not right.
The Clinton recovery was all Bush seniors doing, though Clinton
had exactly *Zero* influence on the economic boom times... until
he left office. Suddenly a President became economically influential
again, until the "It's all Clinton's fault" grew so thin that even the
neo-cons were choking on it.
Then they went back to claiming that the President has no influence
on the economy.
Well, except that the Presidents tax cuts are the only thing keeping
us above water.
That's a contradiction -- I know -- but it's not like a neo-con can
see these things, even after you point them out.
