It is Gods will that all men be saved.

Perhaps you should like others check out the book of revelations
chapter seven, nothing there about everyone being saved.

144,000 member of the tribes of Israel, will have the mark
of god upon
their foreheads, and while the author of that text also mentions a
great multitude around the throne of god, not one of them is given
this mark.

1 Timothy, chapter 2

Now I ask you this, which was written last, 1 Timothy or Revelation?

I wont be so bold as to know for sure which was written first..what
does it matter.

And also if both are the inerrant Word of God, how can both be right?

Ah... How can they both be right...

Especially when there are those who insist that the Bible is to be
interpreted literally, that is to say the only meaning is exactly what
is written.

And if you are told that the walls of Jericho fell on the seventh day
does that mean they came crumbling down by the hand of God or rather
they fell because Joshua was a brilliant man of war. One seems more
logical then the other, but both would be right. Two literal
interpretions. Would you agree.

Aside from the fact that Joshua never conquered Jericho.

Not the point. Or did you not read the question.- Hide quoted text -

My original question which seems still to go unanswered is this:

******
Something that puzzles me, is if only a given number of people (the
chosen ones) are going to be saved, then why do so many christian
movements keep on trying to convert everyone else over to their
version of christianity?
******

People pointed out that a belief in an upper limit to the number of
saved is relatively rare in Christianity. Your question does not apply
to those Christian movements who do not hold that belief.

Did I include all christian movements in my original question? No.

Even Jehovah's
Witnesses, who are best known for such a belief, have, fide statements
on this thread, a belief in a second class salvation for as many as can
be converted. So your question seems to be based on a false premise; if
you can find a "Christian" movement to which it applies, and who do try
to convert everyone else, then you can ask your question of that
movement in particular.

I have asked this question of many members of christian movements in
my neighbourhood who willingly try to convert you on street corners,
coffee bars, and on your very own doorstep, and not one of them has
been either willing or able to answer the question. This is why I
bought the question up here in the first place, to try and get an
answer one way or the other.

(With some Christians they're so bad at witnessing for God that one is
uncertain that they're trying to convert people.)

Did I include all christian movements in my original question? No.

You asked why *so many Christian movements* keep on trying to convert
everyone else to their version of Christianity, if only a given number
of people are going to be saved. The answer for most Christians would
seem to be that they don't accept your premise, so for them the question
is equivalent to "have you stopped beating your wife".
It is not yet in evidence that there is a Christian movement which holds
that only a given number will be saved, and tries to convert everyone to
their view.

Even Jehovah's

How many of those people you asked believed that the number of the saved
was limited? How is your question different from a creationist asking
who the first animal of a new species breeds with?

I have just told you that they were all either unable or unwilling to
answer my question.
And why are you raising the question of with whom would the first
animal of a new species breed, after all that question and mine are
completely different if you think about it.
Genes Mutate - Individuals Breed - Populations Evolve.
