There has always been a simmering resentment against the USA;

Well, there was the US-funded terrorism in C. America 20 years ago.

too
loud, too rich, too full of themselves, and so much happier than other
countries-- it has become a damn epidemic.

The US has a long history of supporting stable dictatorships instead
of promoting democracy.

Shouldn't that be:
The US has a long history of supporting UNstable dictatorships?
That is:
It the dictatorships were stable, our support would not have been
needed!?!

It really pisses me off that everyone confuses Iraq with terrorism.
9-11 was carrried out by an extremist Muslim group; not Iraq or Saddam
Hussein. However, everyone seems to be justifying our invasion of
Iraq with the terrorist activities of 9-11.
I'm sick and tired of Bush fighting his Holy Crusade with my taxes.
Perhaps Saddam needed to be removed from power, but that doesn't mean
that America needed to do it. The people of Iraq do not want us in
their homeland. Look at the *****-storm we are in today because Bush
couldn't keep his nose in his own country's business. America has
killed countless Iraq civilians, in the name of "freedom." Our young
soldiers are losing their lives in a war they have no interest in,
aside from doing what it takes to stay alive and getting back home to
their families.
Does anyone other than me think that it's strange that George W. is
just picking up where his father left off? I also think that it's odd
that most Christians support the war in Iraq, which goes against
everything that Jesus taught. But, I guess nothing has really changed
there - Christianity is best known for it's hypocrisy, and Christians
have taken thousands of innocent lives in the name of Jesus during the
Crusades. Christians couldn't have picked a worse spiritual leader
than George W.
When the Dixie Chicks publicly spoke out against Bush, I did not think
anything odd about it - they were simply expressing their American
right to free speech. All of a sudden they were being banned from
radio stations across the country. Does that seem American to you?
It sounds like the worst sort of censorship to me. Are we going to
start burning books again? (I suppose we would, if we didn't have
radio or television). How about a good-ole-fashioned witch hunt?
Who's in? We'll start with the Dixie Chicks, they look shifty.

P.S. America has a long history of supporting dictators, because it's
easier to control a single dictator than it is to control a democracy.
Where the head goes, the body follows. The trouble with Iraq, as far
as America was concerned, is that Saddam wasn't controllable. So we
had to step in and put someone in who would be more easily influenced
when it came to international economic relations (i.e. oil). But,
that's part of another rant...

Would you agree that it was Iraq, under the leadership of Saddam Hussein,
blindly lobbing SCUD missiles into Israel a while back, with no particular
objective or target, just to mess with their heads, so to speak? And would
you agree that sort of activity fits the definition of "terrorism"? And do you
suppose that a few years later there was a whole new Saddam Hussein,

Thank you so much for turning around and making an individual attack
against me. Why must you get so personal about an intellectual
discussion? We are all just people sharing our points of view. Did I
say, all who think otherwise is an idiot? No, I did not.
You'll notice that in my post I also mentioned that perhaps Saddam
needed to be removed from power. My post was simply pointing out that
we handled it the wrong way. Iraq hates us now, and they will despise
us long after we are gone. But now, thanks to George W., there are
quite a few more places in the world where Americans are looked down
upon.
Personally, I belong to the percentage of Americans who think that we
are there for the oil. Just taking it, of course, would be a little
too bold... so, we are putting together a government in Iraq that will
sell us the oil. Plain and simple. Of course, that is just my
opinion, but you can (and will) think what you want.

Iraq has no oil to speak of, that's why they were invading Kuwait in
the first place, Kuwait _does_ have a lot of oil. In any case, America
gets nearly a half of its oil from Saudi Arabia, and that's a lot of oil...
we buy more oil from Saudi Arabia than Europe and half of Asia put
together. Btw- none of the Muslim world is too partial to the U.S.,
because we support Israel. And don't forget that Iranian student
Sirhan Sirhan did in Robert Kennedy a _long_ time before 9-11,
in retaliation for the Shah, who was an American puppet. To think
the Muslims hate the U.S. for something recent is naive. They even
relate the recent "Gulf War II" to another Crusade.

You getting near the right idea but still off the mark. The USA wants
stable oil prices. That is achieved by having many independent oil
producing countries competing on the world market to sell their oil.
This is why Saddam was not allowed to stay in Kuwait. It would have
been one less independent oil producing country. Its not about
stealing anyone's oil. The people of Iraq want to sell their oil to
get money just like everyone else. Keeping it in the ground does them
no good. The world market sets the price not the United States. If
you ask anyone in the oil industry they will tell you the price of oil
doesn't matter nearly as much as it not changing too fast. This is a
great plan, unless of course you would like to park your car and stay
home for months at a time while Saddam waged economic war across the
middle east against western nations. Were you alive in 1974 and
1979?? Do you remember??

Iraq has no oil to speak of,

bull f-cking sh!t.

that's why they were invading Kuwait in
the first place, Kuwait _does_ have a lot of oil.

Also, Kuwait was just like Poland for Hitler. It was a weak neighbor
that had no significant defenses so it would fall easily and quickly
making Saddam look more powerful and successful. Hitlers tactics
exactly. Saddam's ambition was to wait till the world got used to him
taking Kuwait and then he would invade Saudi Arabia, then build a
nuclear weapon and take Iran, then take Syria, then Jordan, then
Israel then......
It was Hitler's strategy exactly. Saddam even gassed civilians like
hitler die. The sad thing is that just like in Hitler's day, well
meaning but shallow and foolish people want to appease Saddam just
like the Europeans tried to appease Hitler while he was invading
country after country. Waiting too long to respond to Hitler was a
huge mistake costing the lives of over 20 million people. The truly
outrageous thing is that a mere 60 years later France, Germany and
most of Europe have completely forgotten the lessons of Hitler.

Kuwait was originally part of Iraq. The British drew a line on a map and
circumcised Kuwait from Iraq, thus making the latter a landlocked country.

all the borders in the middle east were artificially drawn. Iraq had
no claim to Kuwait. Saddam didn't even have a historical claim to
authority over the Shiite Muslims in southern Iraq or the Kurds in
Northern Iraq much less a claim over Kuwait.

Kuwait should be restored to Iraq. It belongs to Iraq.

No it wasn't.

The British stole it from them.

No they didn't.

the irony is that the 1990 invasion of Kuwait by Iraq was completely
legitimate.

Kuwait was recognized as a sovereign nation by the Arab League and the
United Nations. How can you possibly claim that one country invading
its sovereign neighbor is "legitimate"?? LOL! You have fallen over
the edge of insanity. By your logic, the USA rightfully belongs to
the Queen on England and Mexico belongs to Spain. LOL! You are a
hoot!

America and the West are the evil Great Satan.

This is the greatest laugh of all. The pure and holy ones are
killing, bombing and gassing civilians to grab wealth and power.
Muslim clerics are assassinating their rival clerics and no one seems
to object and these murderous, ruthless, cutthroats are calling
America "the great Satan". LOL!!! Thats funny.
The fact is that anyone out of power has only his voice. So you will
see every group that has no power trying to get all the TV time they
can to rant, scream and call other people names. This phenomena is
universal with people. That's why you see groups of petty thugs in
the middle east doing it and thats also why you see the Democratic
Party Leadership doing it in the Congress. LOL!

It's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it.

It would certainly be easier to just kill them all. Your homework
assignment for today is to answer the question: Why don't we do that?

Your homework assignment is to learn how to sort out who is saying what
in a thread.

Archeologists have found that "Caucasians" i.e. white people, occupied
large areas of central China for over a thousand years at least in pre-
historic times. The Japanese concede that white people were the original
inhabitants of Japan prior to the invasion of their Asiatic ancestors. We
must destroy the yellow menace and restore China and Japan to aboriginal
white people!

I'm referring to oil reserves in ratio of land area, as well as development, Kuwait
is tiny and has about 98 billion barrels reserve, Iraq is very big, and has about
112 billion barrels reserve, about the same as Kuwait. Neither has what Saudi
Arabia has, and neither has the developed oil production of Saudis, kind of like
comparing Donald Trump to Bill Gates. Current oil production in Iraq 2-2.5
million barrels per day is about the same as we get from Texas and Federal
offshore rigs alone. There's speculation Iraqi production could triple, but then
there's speculation about Iraqi WMD's as well, and nobody's seen them yet
either.

Although we in the U.S. do not have a single candidate, as did the Soviet
Union, the choices are still limited. I voted for McCain in the primary,
but Bush is still by far the more reasonable choice over Gore, who would
likely have been another Jimmy Carter, a nice doofus.

So we
had to step in and put someone in who would be more easily influenced
when it came to international economic relations (i.e. oil). But,
that's part of another rant..

here here - and if you saw that documentary on the iraq war back at the turn
of the nineties you would see sadam's defecting nuclear scientist tell us
that the last thing sadam wanted as the armies advanced, was for a nuclear
weapon to be dropped on israel!
bush felt that saddam would have a nuke by now and had to invade to save
israel and his pals from nuclear anhilation.
