Re: Are we Gods and the nature of evil
The belief that all humans have "fallen" and our earthly, flesh bodies
are separate from God has never jived with me.

I think the story of Adam and Eve is not about humans falling from
grace, but more accurately describes humans becoming aware of evil and
bad so he/she can realize we are all God-like. If we only knew about
good and perfection and nothing else how could we be aware of it
without the knowledge of evil? If we only knew about one side of the
coin how could we know about the other? In that sense, evil serves a
purpose (though there is far too much evil in the world now).

Tara,
That type of logic can get one into trouble. For example, If you never
stick your hand into a fire, how can you ever tell what it would be
like?
In other words, we don't have to personally experience something
negative in order to be aware of its possible existence. We have
knowledge and an ability to use that knowledge in the proper way.
(wisdom)
Also, many Christians do accept the fall of Adam and Eve to be a real
happening. When it happened, and through the laws of genetics, our
first parents passed on their imperfections to us. So here we are,
imperfect and in a dying state. But God will soon change all of that.

If God created everything down to the tiniest particles and since
humans are made of these particles (Indeed, we're made from star
stuff), then we must be Gods, since we're created in His/Her image.
It's not experiencing this God-like state that allows suffering, pain,
evil-doing, etc.

The Bible would agree with you that humans can be "gods". (see 1 Co
8:5,6) But we are nothing near in power etc, to the God of the gods,
Almighty God. (Jehovah-Ps 83:18 KJV)

This is supported in Corinthians 3:16 and 6:19: "Do you not know that
you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells within you." [6:19
says basically the same thing] God is not separate from us; He is us!

As Christ said: "If you had enough faith you could move mountains."
This certainly indicates God-like powers. :)

Obviously no one today must have such faith, since their is no
legitimate documentation that literal mountains have been moved in
that way. Nor hills, nor even small rocks etc. Either everyone's faith
is near zero, or Jesus was talking symbolically like he did a lot. And
that is the case here.
What Jesus meant was that 'mountain-like' obstacles can be conquered
if our faith is strong. And this has been demonstrated over and over
again by Christians, such as overcoming alcoholism, or any other
'vice' etc, that may plague a person.
Sincerely, James
