Do you know forsure if you died today that you would go to heaven?
Hello,
If you lived at the time of Jesus and asked that question about Abel,
and Abraham, and Moses, and Isaiah, and all the faithful servants of
God listed in the OT part of the Bible, here is what Jesus would have
told you. John 3:13,
"No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from
heaven--the Son of Man." (NIV)
Interesting isn't it. None of them went to Heaven. (at least for sure
up till the time of Jesus) But if all good people are supposed to go
to Heaven when they die, where did they go?
And who are these people Jesus is talking about at Matthew 5:5?
"Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth." (NIV)
Notice he didn't say those "meek" ones would inherit 'Heaven', no he
said they would inherit "the earth". That seems to imply that they
will have everlasting life here on earth, not in Heaven. (if all the
meek ones end up in Heaven, what value is it to inherit the earth?)
Obviously something is going on here in the Bible that many people are
not getting from the pulpits of Christendom. (more on this subject if
you are interested)

The place where the departed went to is Sheol. A place for the
righteous and unrighteous. After Christ died on the cross he descended
into hell t set the captived free. The captives were those who believe
in God and were righteous. Th ey then ascended in heaven
