he and his followers defined Christ's message to their own liking.

I think Paul was quite a bit nuts, but otherwise I am in complete

heterodox or heretical. Apostates don't claim to be a member of the
group, though they may claim that their new revelations subsume the old
group in the new.

I understand that. I was trying to be minimally prescriptive. Some
protestants may say otherwise, but then they are just being Humpty
Dumpty. Catholics are Christians and anyone who claims otherwise is
either getting out the bagpipes for pointless person argumentation or
they don't know what Christianity is.
