Interesting, too, that the apocalyptic prophesies about the Son
returning in judgment do not mention sexual preferences as a focus of
judgment. Instead, the returning Jesus is expected to judge according
to the extent people have fulfilled Torah (and its extensions vis a
vis Jesus' own ethic of compassion). That is, judgment will be
performed on the basis of how we treat the "little ones", how we treat
the sick, orphaned, prisoners, and whether or not we have given
sustenance to those who need it.

The bulk of Jesus' preaching was not about sin, much less about the
so-called "hot" (sexual) sins. His ire was raised mostly by those who
were unkind to, and exploitative of, others. His consistent message:
Worry less about what gays do, and concentrate on how well or how
poorly you yourself fulfill the invitation and challenge of God's
compassion.

Hurray for the change of emphasis, "let us consider how to stir
up one another to good works"
Hebrews 10; 24

Hello,
But Christians cannot 'water down' God's word and push into the
background wrongdoing. How can people know what is wrong and to avoid,
if those wrong things, such as homosexuality, are not brought out to
them? Here was my Scriptural reply to that poster:
"First, your reference to Jesus' alleged remark at John 8:7:
"Let those who are without sin cast the first stone".
Those would be very strange words for Jesus to use, since Jesus was
born a Jew and was under the Mosaic Laws of the time, and adultery was
punishable by death. (Mt 8:4; De 22:22) For Jesus to encourage others
to break God's laws of that time, would be totally inconsistent with
Jesus' teachings. (Joh 5:30)
Actually, many Bible scholars find the passages of John 7:53-8:11 to
be highly questionable and Spurious. For example, the Bible "The
Revised Standard Version Bible" in the marginal notes, refers to John
7:53-8:11 and says,
"some mark the passage as doubtful".
Also the Bible "Today's English Version" in its marginal notes, says
concerning John 8:1-11,
"Many manuscripts and early translations do not have this passage
(8:1-11)"
So just keep that in mind when quoting or referring to that alleged
statement by Jesus. It is a highly spurious statement.
Concerning the "focus of judgement" when judgement day comes, true the
Bible doesn't list every sin ever committed by humans on that day.
(the list would be too extensive to fit into this email) That is why
it just uses general words to describe those who will perish, such as
the "wicked". Notice the wording from Jesus at Mt 13:47-50,
" 47. "Once again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was let
down into the lake and caught all kinds of fish.
48. When it was full, the fishermen pulled it up on the shore. Then
they sat down and collected the good fish in baskets, but threw the
bad away.
49. This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will
come and separate the wicked from the righteous
50. and throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be
weeping and gnashing of teeth." (NIV)
Yes, the Bible is clear that God does not approve of homosexuality.
(see Le 18:22; Ro 1:26,27; 1 Co 6:9-11) And ONLY those doing God's
will, get to live forever. 1 Jo 2:17,
"The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of
God lives forever." (NIV)
Sincerely, James

Hello,

Christians don't do so. But Jehovah's Witlesses edit and change Scripture
to suit their own agenda, they deny the Divinity of Christ, the Person of
the Holy Spirit, and nearly all the historic Traditions of the Apostolic
Church, along with the historic Creeds. JW's are not Christians, and their
'advice' can be safely ignored.
