I think you confuse people calling themselves Christians with real
Christians. It is easy to spot the difference in these times. The
answer to one question will do it every time. The question is:
Do you believe that the war in Iraq was justified?
The word Christian means *Christ-like* Please read Revelation, from
beginning to end then ask yourself, "What would Jesus do ?"

Ironic as it may sound, it still means I must assume your positions.
Too often this is a black and white assumption of extremes.
However when we put it together, we find we have only minor differences.
The perspectives are different for each of us....
Jesus was non violent.
The judgement in which people die in his presence is one of light and
darkness not being able to exist in it's presence. He is not killing anyone.
He is saying look out here comes the light, repent and become compatible or
you will have to flee to the outer darkness where there is the gnashing of
teeth etc...
Too many are taught Jesus brought a sword and think it means bloodshed. It
means, using your tongue and the spiritual verses to show the good things of
the new ways. (Old Wine New Wine parable) The separation of families because
of these issues. The religious blind allegiance factor making the old ways
blind to see the new ways are the real attitude the old ways were supposed
to work with. That of love and forgiveness.
Too many think Jesus will slaughter people as in human warfare. This is not
the case. That is the twist of men's mindsets of the OLD WAYS, to which
JEsus said, the kingdom of heaven suffers violence. For many thought HOly
War, kill the adulterer etc was God's ways. I tell you it is not. God's ways
are internal and spiritual. They are to win another over by him seeing our
good example of how peace works with the Holy Spirit.
Was the war in Iraq justified.
No War is justified in the flesh.
Spiritual war, is to say, lets have peace, and talk about no more killing.
We have to stop the cycle of the OLD ways ruining the NEW ways of JEsus, as
they have done for too many centuries. The day the first Christian took up a
sword to use it, was the day it started going off track. The day the church
leaders justified physical violence, that day the whole of the scriptures
were twisted.
When I was a child I didnt understand and did childish things. When I became
a man, I put off childish ways, and adopted an understanding of the
practicality of how it works. I say this in regard to the OLD ways were fear
punishment. The New ways are to understand the punishment is self inflicted
from the chain reactions of our choices. The OLD Testament is not meant to
Override the NEW but instead show how it had it's place and why the NEW
Testament is meant to supersede it. The mindset must change (the Spirit of
the MIND).
Those which live by the SWORD Will die by the SWORD.

I do not have to ask what WOULD Jesus do. All I have to do is read
what Jesus DID do and take my cues from Him.
Those "end timers" who are certain that Christ will come in their life
time think the Iraq war has something to do with the end of the world.
They need to guess again. The disciples thought Christ would come
back in their lifetime and for 2000 years this belief has repeated
over and over.
Authors like Tim LaHaye & Hal Lindsey are on their second "Second
Coming." They were touting the end of the world in the '70s and when
that didn't happen, they revised their schedule for today. It's not
about the "end times." It is what sells books.
When I was going up my foster mother firmly believed that she would
live to see Christ. She died without it coming to pass. That was
over 40 years ago. Go back 100 years, 1000 years and you will find
the same ideas.
As far as Revelations is concerned, IMO, it has become the Christian
equivalent to Nostradamus' prophecies. Anyone can read them and
"work" the prophecies to his/her way of thinking.
Evidently you think Revelation justifies the Iraq war. Jesus was a
pacifist and His death was sought for that very reason. I know that
American "end timers" want some Middle Eastern country to be the
"harlot" of Revelation 17. The United States is a much more likely
candidate. All one has to do is turn on a television, radio, or pick
up a newspaper to know what I mean. We are far more like the "harlot"
of Revelation 17 than any other country in the world.
One little fact that so many "Christians" miss is there are only two
things is of real importance in this life - being right with God and
bringing others to God. War eliminates all possibility of either as
you can never convert a person who is dead. The second you kill them,
you take away any chance for their redemption. And when you
deliberately deny a human being of ever being converted, then that is
a major sin.
EVERYTHING else is just window dressing!
