Re: Current state of the church?
Hi...
My name is Chris and I work as a caregiver at a Christian children's home in
Idaho called Hope House. I've been here for over 7 years now and have seen
us struggle time and time again to find willing servants. Though it is true
that this ministry is not necessarily easy and often requires some
sacrifices, the almost constant shortage of willing hands makes me wonder
about the state of the church in general in the USA. Is it just me?
Chris
Chris,
You are doing a fine thing helping people:)
Concerning your inquiry, perhaps you are not looking at the right
'church'. Let's see if the Bible can help.
The Bible says there is only "one faith" (one true religion) Eph 4:5,
"one Lord, one faith, one baptism;" (NIV)
And that "one faith" religion is not fragmented into many pieces. 1 Co
1:10,
"I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that
all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions
among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought."
(NIV)
And during these last days, notice one thing that Jesus said that "one
faith" religion will be doing. Mt 24:14,
"And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as
a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." (NIV)
Thus when you find a particular 'church' that is preaching to the
whole world a specific Bible theme i.e, God's "kingdom", then you will
have found the 'church' that Jesus said would be around right before
the end. And Jesus' prophecy is being fulfilled as we speak.
Sincerely, James
