Who is Ian Mander? He claims responsibility for putting together
a web site on religious groups in New Zealand, and he ranks a large
number of these groups with a "danger" sign! The site's URL is:

http://www.cults.co.nz

Far out!!!
Just read some of the crap on this site!
His description of Jehovah's Witnesses beliefs is totally wrong and simply
made up!
What a crock of crap.
He says the name "Jehovah" comes from a "Spirit Guide" LMFAO!!!
Jehovah is God's name.

I think you mean Yahweh, but the first name was Elohim (the many-one God /
the gods united as one)

Shows how much he knows about his own God.
Sad really.

Actually, "Elohim" can be translated as god, God, or gods. It is not really
a name, but like the word "man" might
be about 1 person, or the race of man. In either case, the meaning is found
by the context.
Yahweh comes from the time when the God of the Hebrews revealed Himself to
Moses. Moses asked Him His name,
and He responded with the words Yahweh,Yahweh, translated to mean "I Am that
I Am.
What He was saying about Himself by calling Himseflf Yahweh Elohim, what we
call the Lord God, is literally
"I Am God".
God Bless

that

Or more literally, "I exist" which still leaves Him as nameless as does
Elohim.

What He was saying about Himself by calling Himseflf Yahweh Elohim, what

we

call the Lord God, is literally
"I Am God".

Which STILL isn't a name
Curious, your point ? (not meaning to be crass / hateful)

God Bless

And may The Elohim Bless you as well

BTW most "names", like my name Glenn (a narrow and secluded / pleasant
valley), aren't names either, but are words or phrases (of present,or no
longer in use, languages), oft. misspelled(as to show that they are "names";
like mine, which has two "n"s instead of one)
That being said, your argument of the Elohim not being a name, goes right
out the window !

That's kind of a cool name. Maybe I'll suggest it for my next
grandchild. "Elohim"...or if it's a girl, "Elohima".

Yes Yahweh is one direct translation, but the common closest English
translation is Jehovah - Hallelujah - meaning praise jah - meaning praise
Jehovah.
